MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

I like the fact that we have good size in the backcourt now. McCollum is the only one who isn't a big guard. I hope that helps on both ends of the floor. Now, we wait on at least one big man.

From the same school as our New QB and Safety. Nice! Wonder if that had anything to do with it? Denton Guyer

Great news! As for wanting a starting four who is athletic and really shoot is a wish of every school.

I'm not the saying the guy has to be a marksman from outside, but something in the range of 34-37% shouldn't be too much to ask for.

Manek was 37% for his career.
Tyler Neal was 35%.
Doolittle was 37%.
Heck, even Spangler was 36% his senior season.

Just need somebody that can be a threat. 35%. It's a need.

Taylor Griffin shot 36% his senior year as well.

Comparison:

Hill shot 29% and 20% his last two seasons at OU.

I've said it before, but if you have elite shooting elsewhere, maybe it's not a hindrance. If you have a 5 can do some things away from the basket, maybe it's not a big deal. But we're going to have 5 that likely isn't a threat from outside, and probably 2-3 guards that aren't projected to be major threats from outside. Coupled with two guards that project to be good but not great (elite?) shooters in McCollum and Uzan.

Just think in today's game you are much easier to defend if you can't stretch the floor, unless you have elite talent.

Johnson is probably a worse shooter than Hill, looking at his 3 point and FT percentages. If he is the best we can get, fine, his defense should should be really good. But he isn't really what our roster needs.

WT I want all positions to be able to shoot and we clearly need a four who can. Problem is someone like that is in high demand. You mentioned Manek he was able to go to UNC. I would never consider Tyler Neal a four. Although same height as Jalen

You can have guys like Neal and Groves shooting threes, and I'll take Keshad Johnson...the guy who started at the 4 on the national runner-ups this year.

We might not have a knock down shooter in the bunch, but these are all above average 3 point numbers:

Uzan - 41%
McCollum - 38%
Darthard - 38%

I wonder who on the staff is doing most of the flexing... Humphrey, and/or Dildy... Or maybe the new guy a little?

I mean, id take him for sure. But i didn't think his stats jumped off the page when i looked at them last. We def need a 4. Hope hes better than the supposed "surprise"

Watch any film or just look at “stats”

Yeah, think with his athleticism, rebounding, defensive versatility, he's the type of forward you'd want next to Hugely. It'd be even better if he was a better shooter, but if he was, he'd be going pro.

Johnson plan A or B?

Have to think A. He may not be a shooter, but as a starter on a team that was in the championship game, that's hard to pass up. He's got NBA athleticism, and alongside other guys like Soares, I'm salivating at the idea of how good this team could be defensively 1-4.
