MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Have to think A. He may not be a shooter, but as a starter on a team that was in the championship game, that's hard to pass up. He's got NBA athleticism, and alongside other guys like Soares, I'm salivating at the idea of how good this team could be defensively 1-4.

Dartboard was an all defensive team player. Joshnson and Soares are elite defenders. Oweh showed flashes of being an elite defender. We’re a rim protector short of being a top defensive team.

Watch any film or just look at “stats”

Why are you being a smartass for? His film looks good and what we need. But it seems like he could get more boards or pts for that film

Seemed like a fair question seeking an answer to me. Is there a reason you just didn't answer the question?

Edit made because you seemed to have edited your post adding to the quoted above since I started typing my comment

Honest question...

But since you asked... Have we signed anyone that is up to hoopsaustin's scouting eye?

all these guys have warts. but I think we have upgraded at every spot from last year... Soares can spell hill at times. I think we need a true 4 man (someone guarding the other teams 2nd biggest)

I don't think I've been particularly negative on any of them. I thought we were supposed to discuss things on here but whatever.

I asked. You called me a asshole… so I thought I’d least be one…

My thoughts exactly. How could anyone watch last years team and think this guy is anything less than plan A. Like E said, he started on a NC runner-up and it wasn’t a Hoosiers situation either, they looked the part.

I mean, id take him for sure. But i didn't think his stats jumped off the page when i looked at them last. We def need a 4. Hope hes better than the supposed "surprise"

Watch his highlights...dude is bigger and more athletic than Hill.

None of the guys we signed are perfect but I think, overall, we upgraded...ESPECIALLY athletically. He would add to that

Couldnt agree more.

If we get Keshad, I will be a giddy schoolgirl. Dude is an improved Hill and been to the ship...knows what it takes to get there.

Man some of you seem to be VERY optimistic about the guys we have signed. Apparently everyone is uber athletic and far better than the players they are replacing.

I will be very happy if McCollum can simply match Grant’s production. I think Darthard will be an improvement over the other guards we lost from last season. Definitely not sold on Soares being a major contributor, and if Johnson signs, I think he is at best a push with Hill. Hugley should be an improvement over Tanner if he is healthy. I think overall it’s a net positive because of how little we got from CJ, how inconsistent Cortes was, and how athletically challenged Jacob and Tanner were. But the growth of Los and Oweh, and how ready Cooper is to be a factor, will probably be the biggest factors in whether/how much we improve.

Agreed. There is good and bad with what we brought in. I don't see a true difference maker yet. An alpha. A guy that can win games on his own.

I think we'll be more athletic and hopefully a better defensive team, but I still have questions on the offense. We're replacing Hill, a guy I wasn't overly high on, with a similar player that shot 3% worse from three, and about 16% worse from the FT line. Johnson rebounded the ball a little better than Hill in terms of rebounds per 40, but that is about it. Steals and blocks were very similar for minutes played.

Same ones that are so excited right now will be the ones making excuses a year from now. I'm now in "no excuses" mode with Moser. It's "show improvement and make the NCAA Tourney" time, or find a new place of employment time to me.

I don't know about Sherfield from a scoring aspect but I think we definitely improved over his defense....so if the scoring part can be close but the defensive part be a big upgrade I'm good.

I think Soares is a huge step up athletically from JG, who I believe he is replacing, that is a good thing...he can't shoot like JG but he can defend and run the floor, score in transition.

I don't think there is any way you can look at Darthard and not think he won't be an upgrade over Cortes in my opinion. I didn't hate Cortes but he was not overly athletic, struggled getting to the hoop and was not a great defender. Cortes averaged 3.2 ppg, 1.6 rpg and 2.0 apg......Darthard 13.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 1.6 apg.....Bijan had a higher 3 pt% last year but Darthard has a career 37.8% 3 pt average which is very good.

Johnson would be an upgrade over Hill in almost every sense, other than 3 pt %.......

I will admit Darthard's stats were against generally weaker comp but it is still college comp but he had games against power 5 schools....he had 18 against Wake Forest, 8 against BYU, 9 vs Oregon, 9 vs Cincy, 13 vs Colorado,.........they were 28-9 and won all but one of the games I listed in OT vs Wake......I feel pretty good about Darthard.....he may be a backup for us but if we can get similar production off the bench I am perfectly fine with that.

I guess for the same reason you'd leave a NC runner-up team.

Kids be dumb sometimes.

Man, you are a solid guesser...I am sure it has nothing to do with them majority of their roster after this year either.

Darthard is going to surprise some people. You don't get all defense, a high ORtg, and lead in FT% and Top10 in FTs (WAC) for nothing.
