I'm not a huge Jalen Hill guy, but he'd actually fit in very well on next year's Houston team. UH has recruited some young big guys, but most will need to develop over the next couple of years. They return their center, and slotting Hill in at the 4 would give them a pretty solid starting 5.

Guess we'll find out what Hill is really looking for. More scoring opps? NIL? Better team results?

He'd be great with them. Elite defense, tough as nails, high IQ. Also a better ballhandler than they often have in the front court. I'd love to see him end up there but have no idea whether he is interested.

Hill's list of interested teams is certainly an impressive one. If we were bringing in a player who had been pursued by such a roster of teams, we'd be pretty darned excited.

I agree on his list of interests. But how excited would we be if we were bringing in a 3/4 wing/SF that averaged 9 PPG, 5 RPG, 1 APG, and shot 26% from deep while playing 32 MPG? My guess is most would say that is a Plan B or Plan C transfer and Porter failed to land one of our needs.

I would have liked Jalen to stay, but it is a great opportunity to upgrade at that position.

We will see if Moser and staff can bring in someone better, as that remains to be seen.

It sucks. I hate it. Give them one free transfer for ANY reason... then another if you grad or coach leaves...

No hardships. No Mental illness. No sick grandmas. Maybe that is harsh but man.

The decisionmakers at the NCAAs are even dumber than the decisionmakers of the Big 12 were when they let our teams leave and let UT get their network and did nothing proactive to the point of killing the best basketball league and likely 2nd best football league.. sigh

The money isn't going away. Every new TV deal, and the salaries paid to coaches and ADs and league commissioners, shows otherwise. And people have complained about the quality of play for a couple decades now, since one-and-done became common. As for NIL money -- boosters and businesses may have to make some choices on whether to fund NIL or donate to facilities projects, but I expect the funds will keep flowing.

I don't love all the roster change, but I think ultimately fans care primarily about the same thing as always: winning. If your team is winning, you may be bummed when some guys leave the program, but you'll still be glued to the set to watch them play.

Absolutely. If you're transferring because your grandma is sick then sitting out a year shouldn't matter if that's the real reason you're transferring.

It’s far too early to determine the impact yet monetarily-speaking. If this trend continues, then the money will begin to go away imo. College sports have been lifted and shifted from amateur to a professional framework without any competitiveness structure. The product will get worse and worse. The average national fans will care less and less. That’s when the money goes elsewhere.

Easy solution: Just quit stealing a players NIL. Universities can't market their students nor put their face or name on anything. Then, have the NCAA declare that any student that receives NIL money is ineligible for intercollegiate participation. European model in golf. Kids coming out of high school over seas either go pro or they come to America and play college golf.

Judicial decisions have properly found that you can't steal a kid's NIL rights. There aren't any decisions saying the NCAA can't define what an amateur is and only allow amateurs to play sports. And, you can't limit a kids ability to go pro.

Coach is right though, the first step is to limit free transfers. I say you get one free transfer following the successful completion of two years at the school you originally sign with. Then, no exceptions/waivers without sitting out a year. I don't like the idea of a second grad transfer, but could live with it.

Obviously, you will lose some of the better kids directly to the pro leagues. So what, they only hang around for a year or two anyway.
