McNease

I don't think Freeman and Jumuni play the same position.

Will he play more than 10 min / game?

I'll take the under on that bet.

I've read a lot of reports, tweets, etc. but I've not read one comment on how McNeace is playing. There have been a lot of positive comments about Lattin, Doolittle, and Freeman. Freeman is already taller than Lattin, so could he be Lattin's backup?

Garyeb2 is right. Perhaps as you might see Freeman at the high post in practice on occasion but he a more of a perimeter of player. His shot is primarily from BTA.

Freeman is a stretch 4 and won't really offer any rim protection. It's possible he could play some 5 in certain 'small ball' lineups but I doubt it.

I think that depends on whether Kruger subs in Buford with the bigs or the wings. Dante sounds like he's struggling to guard quicker players so he might wind up being the first big off the bench. If so, that hurts McNease' s role/minutes. If you're long, athletic, and have a motor like Jamuni's, you're going to spend time on the floor in college. But he's going to have to get an extended preview in non- conference before I feel confident penciling in 10mpg.

If Buford starts, there's the chance that Doolittle jumps McNease in rotation. But he'll probably play in small lineups because he can run and protect the rim.

I just think Doolittle, Buford and Freeman split minutes at the 4 all year.. Depending on the matchups and if we go small ball I could see Freeman playing the 5 for short periods of time!

Freeman is playing very well. He and the walkons apparently won a game the other day.

I'm not writing off McNease. He began to get more minutes last year as the season went on. Kruger doesn't do that unless he begins to trust the players. He also has possibly the best back to the basket offense of any of the bigs.

McNease is going to be huge this year. I sure hope he's improving. He's our backup true big on the roster. I love those funky hook shots or whatever, but I wish he'd work on more classic turnaround jumpshot form.

Speaking of Freeman for those who have seen practice, does he have any hops?

It sounds like Jamuni had his best practice today. Derek Peterson mentioned him in several tweets:
- He was very active in a 5 on 5 drill. Blocked a shot from Odomes and blew up another play.
- Commented on the strong defense both McNeace and McGusty were playing today.
- Said JM finally had that bounce in his step today. Said he had a strong showing.

I don't know about hops but he is battling on the boards. Derek Peterson tweeted Freeman has been on fire for the past week and a half. Evidently he hit one of those Stephen Curry walk-away 3's as soon as he released it.

He's going to get a lot of playing time if he continues with the hot hand.

I take the over on that 10 mpg. I think mcneace has a higher ceiling than lattin

All these guys are capable of playing multiple positions. If Freeman couldn't contribute there's a good chance McNease would take some of the minutes he'll get.

:facepalm

it may not be a popular opinion but it isn't facepalm worthy. I saw flashes of mcnease last year. He could end up being a monster here. Just needs to slow down and get experience. I've a fan of lattin but think he is a bit overrated.

I'll take the under also. I'd say 4-6 minutes per game. I think there will be games he plays 10-12 minutes but other games he never gets off the bench. He's got potential, but if Freeman and Doolittle emerge as hoped, Kruger will find ways to get them on the court instead.

The team may have too much depth for McNeace to see many minutes.
