We won 11 games this year
So? We won a lot more than that last year. Did it have any bearing on this year? No, it didn't.

My point wasn't that he won't get drafted high if he plays at Mizzou -- I'm fully aware that Simmons went #1 at LSU. But if you're going to play a year or two in college, why not enjoy the experience to the fullest? Why not go to a school where you can have an instant impact but you are still in a position to have some success, where you can play in the tourney and maybe even make it to the later rounds?

Because he wants to be the hometown hero. I don't understand how this is hard to understand, when Trae did the same thing. He turned down KU, a team that's won the Big 12 13 straight times, for OU. You could ask him the same question. Why go to OU when you can go to KU and make the tournament every year, win the Big 12 every year, etc.
Reality is, hometown has a significant pull
I don't know why you think I don't understand it. I'm offering a viable counter argument for coming to OU, is all. As for Trae, he has stated that he was still torn as recently as a week or two before making his announcement, so who's to say what could happen? I'm not betting the rent on Porter coming to OU, but stranger things have happened.
You're offering an argument that if he wants to win, he should go to OU. I would point out that I'm not sure Porter cares about the talent on the team, as he thinks he can be the guy himself.
I'd also add, out of the 4 schools on his current list, there's an argument that Virginia is better than OU with the current teams. So if he wanted to win right away, you'd probably argue for Virginia.
The argument for OU would be: Play with Trae Young, play within close proximity of your hometown so your family can see you often, while not having to be "the guy" that everyone in your hometown wants you to be and all the pressure that "Missouri paid to have you"
So I had not watched any video on Porter. I am now mad I did. Very polished.
Virginia is going to be a disaster next year, as is Missouri.
Except for the fact that he already signed with a school far from home once.Because he wants to be the hometown hero. I don't understand how this is hard to understand, when Trae did the same thing. Virginia will never be a "disaster" as long as Bennett is the HC
Except for the fact that he already signed with a school far from home once.
Yes, to play for his Godfather and save his job, at least he thought he was saving his job. And that's where the homesickness by the mother came into play. She apparently flew out every weekend and was miserable doing so according to the Missouri writers. It's also why her comment yesterday was "it'd be special is jr ended up at Missouri due to the family being there". Momma usually gets what momma wants.
@ChristianCaple
UW has officially released Michael Porter Jr. from his NLI, per a spokesperson.
or more likely to play for the team his dad coached .... and there is a pretty good chance that happens again .. but it may not be at mizzou
Crutch?

I agree, but that wasn't what you said.Yes, to play for his Godfather and save his job, at least he thought he was saving his job. And that's where the homesickness by the mother came into play.
