Notes: The top 4 guys have a standing reach of 9'-5"... only a handful EVER have measured higher than that. We're talking big and long! Dwight Howard even only measured 9'-3.5" in standing reach. I think Cousins will be an absolutely dominant force at that size. That's the same standing reach as Shaq or Hasheem Thabeet!!

I was stunned to see Orton smaller than Cousins across the board.

Tiny measured bigger than I expected, across the board. He didn't play that big.

I thought Obi was a lot bigger than Willie!

Jarvis Varnado is really light.

Cousin's is a MAN. Dear lord I never realized how big and long he is

Michael Scott is greatly enjoying some of the comments in this thread.

But seriously it is always fun to see these guy's real height and weights.

I wished that colleges would report accurate height, weights, wing span, etc.

I'm surprised by how many guys in this class measured out so well. All four of those guys matching Thabeet's standing reach was the first thing that jumped out in my mind. That really puts into perspective how overblow height is, unless you take length into account as well. I wonder how highly Cousins would be rated if he had the same standing reach and wingspan but was listed at 7'0" in height, given the obsession with true centers.

I was also surprised by Tiny's measurements. At that standing reach, he may be able to play some spot minutes at center down the road (if he gets his stuff together and is willing to bang).

Am I missing TMG, or did he not even get an invite to the combine?

I pretty much agree with all of that, and I don't really have anything interesting to add. I'm just glad to see that the Smash hasn't given up on this board yet. Hope to hear your thoughts on the draft and the Thunder over the next few weeks.

Unless it's a misprint, how tall are Aldrich's shoes? Good Lord, he gains 2+ inches with his shoes on.

Man, how shoes have changed. When I played, you could expect a boost of 3/4 of an inch to 1 1/4 inches with shoes on and that's it.

Actually, most of the guys listed fall in that sort of area, but then Pittman also gains two inches in his shoes as well. LOL!

Wow! Great data.

Here are some things that immediately jump out at me. Bearing in mind, the two most critical measurement data points, when evaluating basketball potential are: standing reach and wing span. Measurements like weight and shuttle times and vertical are all subject to change over the course of a career, so they are slightly less useful in a process like this when evaluating like skilled talent.

  • Ryan Richards (who is really impressing people at the combine with his skill set) must have a long neck or head because his standing reach is not as high as one would think a player that's nearly 7 feet tall with shoes on would be. The most important height for a basketball player is the height of a player's shoulders.
  • Tiny Gallon and Daniel Orton have very similar body fat compositions and overall height, yet Tiny hovers around 3 bills and Orton more than 30lbs less. I'd say that's due to Tiny having more muscle under all that cushioning.
  • Luke Harangody is very short! He'll have a tough time even being drafted at that height I suspect. Might be lucky and have someone take a chance on him because of the success a similarly sized DeJuan Blair had with San Antonio this season.

Those numbers add to my conclusion that Al-Farouq Aminu will be the best player in this class.

I'd take Cousins over Wall. Not because Cousins is better, because he's not, but because you need less surrounding cousins than you would Wall. Personally, I thing Greg Monroe willl be the best player in the draft.

Cousins has more body fat than Tiny, but everyone (media) wants to rip tiny. Pretty obvious that Cousins needs to change his body also.

John Hollinger rated Cousins as the overall player in the class in his statistical analysis and had him rated as the only surefire All Star.

The Wizards can ill afford to take another big stiff with the #1 pick in the draft.

Everybody watched Wall and Turner play and Cousins is not in their league. This post season hype is the kiss of death for any team gullible enough to fall for it.

Cousins vs Favors or Aminu might be a valid discussion, Cousins vs Wall or Turner is not.

I think Cousins is most certainly in Wall's and Turner's league, as a basketball player. I think we are seeing Zach Randolph 2.0, however. He certainly has more question marks surrounding his personality/character.
