NCAA First Round: Oklahoma [18-13] vs. Rhode Island [25-7] Game Thread

Trae wasn't perfect today by any means but he would have had 15 assists if Manek, James or McGusty could make a WIDE OPEN 3.

They were a combined 1 for 10 from beyond the arc.

OU will be picked last in the Big 12 next year and I'll be shocked if they don't finish in the cellar.

We had many chances to win, but didn’t. A familiar refrain for this season.

This abortion of a season is over.

Normally, I would say look forward to next season, but that’s not going cheer me up.

The refs were very bad, like changing the outcome of the game kind of bad. You can't minimize the impact they had on this game.

TY had probably the best game he's played in a couple month. He was outstanding.

I don't know if I feel unlucky with how out of their mind teams shoot against us, or how much we are to blame for poor defense. I can't help but feel like its a little of both. Yes they got open looks but they also hit shots they had no business hitting. Very unlucky 2nd half.

If we would have focused on getting better throughout the 2nd half as the season as much as it appeared we tried to leading up to this game, we would have had a pretty salty team at this point. Instead we sulked, and tried to pull it together at the last minute. Bad choice.

Overall, I can only hope TY comes back and if not I hope the guys we have coming back decide to put in the work necessary. It will be up to them.

The game changed when Lon left manek and Lattin in for too long when we had the lead. The sub patterns were terrible today, almost as bad as the refs.

There need to be some changes made during the off season...Not saying Lon should be fired but come on...

Small bright side, don't have to watch Lattin any more. Hopefully whoever plays his minutes next season can exceed the 2 pts he averaged down the stretch. He and James might as well not have played today or in the Big 12 tournament.

There will be changes in offseason but sadly it will be some of the better 'returning players' electing to play elsewhere.

Will be interesting to see elects to leave

Plus we had players continually passing on open looks. You can't field a team that does that and expect success.

I can see couple of players leaving

Failure to defened a jr high offense was the reason we lost .

I’ve never seen someone so lost on a pick and roll in my life .

How many dunks / layups did we give up .

I’ll add how many 1 footers we missed and how many free throws we missed.

There’s no chance we practice defense. No way.

Exactly what I was thinking. So glad he's done

I disagree with those complaining about refs. I watched the same game and felt they were a non-factor. Like all games, there were missed calls but I felt it went both ways.

This was just more of the same we’ve seen for the last two months. I do think we played harder and tougher today than we have been, but we very much looked like a team with one really good player and a bunch of guys who are borderline rotation guys. Really terrible job by Lon this year. He had no answers. If I felt we had an up arrow for next year it would be easier to accept. But I’ll be shocked if we aren’t dead last in B12 next year. Cupboard is empty.

Odomes’ defense on that last 3 pointer was bad. Gave him way too much room. Not a great defender.

The dude just needs to learn how to shoot the ball. He's going to be a senior and he reminds me of a hockey player who cannot skate.

:woot

Some of our better 'on paper' recruits do not play anything close to their HS rankings.

James, Odomes, Mcgusty.

These are Top 150 players. Mcgusty is a top 50 player in HS.

Could be some tough years ahead

Exactly. Left hand shooter, Odomes was playing him on his left hand side and still let the guy get an open look. :facepalm

.

No...the refs didn't. The only questionable call i saw was the 5tyh foul on james..got ball..but they'll call it 90% of the time swiping like that.

Ty took 2 horrible ****s in OT...maybe did ok the rest of the time...but those were crucial moments.
