I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the team evolves next season. The non-conference season will let us see a lot of new faces. I bet LK doesn't go with the same starting lineup every game.

I like the reload process as well. It'll be fun watching these guys grow up as well.

Next year will be interesting, exciting and sometimes frustrating at the same time. Barring an unexpected departure or two, we'll have more depth, on paper, than any season in my recent memory. The best part is that next year's team will be loaded with talented players (again on paper) at nearly every position.

Judging by the stats Soonerinkc posted above, every team in the Big 12 will return more experience than OU. As I said, the Sooners will not be lacking in talent. The question is how long will it take a multitude of new faces mixed with the returning players from this season to come together as a team? Getting an answer to that question in the non-conference portion of our season is going to be fun. It will also require a great deal of patience, something OU fans are not known for.

Watching the college player turnover or reload process is a big part of the fun. One thing we know is that young players develop and improve under the guidance of this coaching staff. It will be very interesting to see how all the pieces fit together next season.

Here are the players, with upperclassmen listed first.

2016-17 Backcourt
> Jordan Woodard ... Senior, 6-0, 187, G ... Edmond Memorial, OK
> Darrion Strong … Junior, 6-1, PG … Coffeyville, CC
> Rashard Odomes … Sophomore, 6-6, 200, G … Copperas Cove, TX
> Christian James … Sophomore, 6-4, 218, G … Bellaire, TX
> Austin Grandstaff … Sophomore, 6-5, 200, G … Rockwall, TX / Ohio State
> Kameron McGusty … Freshman, 6-5, 170, G … Katy, Texas

2016-17 Frontcourt
> Akolda Manyang … Senior, 7-0, 243, C … Rochester, MN / Indian Hills CC
> Khadeem Lattin … Junior, 6-9, 208, F … Houston, Texas
> Dante Buford … Sophomore, 6-7, 221, F … Greenville, SC
> Jamuni McNeace … Sophomore, 6-10, 215, C … Allen, Texas
> Kristian Doolittle ... Freshman, 6-6, 215, F ... Edmond, OK (Memorial)
> Matt Freeman … Freshman, 6-9, 220, F … Auckland, New Zealand

We've got some good players who will shine with more minutes. Christian James, Buford, Manyang, and Lattin will all excel with more focus on them. I'm especially excited about seeing Buford grow next year.

I think Morris (IState) and Taylor (ut) will both enter the draft. That changes both of those teams dramatically. Assuming that happens, I like what we have coming in and coming back more than every team in the conference except for KU and WVU. The strength of this coaching is offseason player development. I'm not saying I'm picking us 3rd but I think 2 things are clear for next season;

1. KU and WVU will be the top 2 teams in the preseason and

2. #3 is up for grabs between several programs (including OU).

We probably dip some next year but I'm beyond excited for the future at OU.

Hoping for a solid showing next year and to make the tournament.. The following year could be real special. Only losing Woodard and AK.

If we get Trae Young, we could be a NC contender in 2017-18.

With more playing time he shouldn't have a hard time scoring 10 points/game.

Woodard
James
Grandstaff or McGusty
Buford
Lattin

That's a pretty solid starting 5. I could see that staying the same throughout the season.

Starting 3 soph and jr and sr... Future is bright. Depth is young as well.

I expect a pretty big jump in offensive production from Lattin.

I agree, potential is there...

yeah, I'd say Morris is gone, not sure about Taylor...which will effect them. Isu would / could drop below us...lol

We definitely have the depth...next year only 2 Sr's it'll be some learning, but potential is there.

I'm interested in Freeman and Grandstaff...since we have seen nothing at all from them.

We haven't seen anything HERE from Grandstaff but he has D1 experience. I expect him to improve and step into a very important role next season as either a starter or valuable rotation member. Freeman is extremely intriguing to me. The stronger he gets the offseason the more he contributes, IMO.

Next year will be pretty rough if Jordan doesn't make a HUGE leap. We will be getting tons of PT for the guys who make up the future of our program though.
