Northern Iowa 82; ASU 63

Gonna be a tough game for us to win and we're gonna have to make a lot more FTs - hope we're ready to play.

Defending the perimeter will be key. UNI shoots, and makes, a lot threes.

this will be a tough opponent for OU. But I was genuinely enthused by their on-ball defense against Tulane at times. If they can just reach down and do it. Good test!!

Yep. This is a game we could lose. UNI reminds me of the top notch ISU teams we have seen over the years. A win would definitely be a sign that this young but talented OU team has the potential to make some noise in the Big 12 this season.

I don't know anything about this UNI team, but Jacobson must be a heck of a coach/recruiter because I do know that last year's UNI squad was almost all seniors.

I know UNI looked good last night, but is ASU any good? They had a losing record last year, and I'm not sure they added any real impact recruit to help.

Not that it means anything, but we are 5.5 point favorite to win the game.

Oh, I think OU will win. I'm just saying we will have to play better defense and make fewer mistakes than we did against Tulane.

UNI is a well coached, disciplined team (emphasis on the word team). I had not seen them play this year before watching them beat ASU yesterday. I was impressed with their passing and their ability to score from the perimeter and on drives to the basket. Definitely a quality win if OU can pull it off.

When I saw that UNI scored 82 points yesterday....I was a little puzzled. In the last several years, they have been in the bottom 50 of the country in terms of "tempo". Recent history has suggested that they play at a "snail's pace", so when I saw they put up 82 points, I figured that they might have upgraded their team from an athletic standpoint. I didn't see any of their game, so I don't know what to expect from them. But I would suspect that we still would have a decided edge in athleticism.

he didn't pump up the tempo necessarily due to increased athleticism - he just feels it's the strongest game they can play given his talent. Those sound the same but they're not.

Jacobson is a darn good coach. He has made a huge difference at UNI and his teams are competitive with the best in the country. And this is him coaching. his background is little more than North Dakota. he's just good at what he does.
