Will Romero Osby be for OU what Ekpe Udoh was for Baylor? A transfer who Excels with a fresh start and brings a mediocre team up to the next level. Was the talent level at Baylor better his first year than OU looks to be next year?

Hate facebook creeping too much but I couldn't pass this up:

Osby:

Is up thinking late.....and for those of u who are doubting the Oklahoma sooner basketball team and coach Jeff capel don't worry because we bout to bounce back in the near future.....best believe that! If u ain't with us u against us.

I am not sure if he can have an Udoh type impact but I guarantee you that he will be a great teammate and at least a solid player on the floor next year. Guy can jump out of the gym and has a great looking stroke from long range. He is solidly built as well and was not afraid to get physical in the two practice settings that I watched him participate in.

It's always good to hear that guys really want to be successful here. He could very easily take a back seat until next year but he's not. He's the first to cheer, get off the bench, encourage, etc. That stuff is contagious.

I think he's has the potential to have an Udoh like impact for this team. I grew up playing ball with Ekpe and nobody including me thought he would be as good as he was at Baylor. A lot will depend on our guards and how they progress but I think next year they could be almost as good as Lace Dunn and tweety Carter were Ekpe's first year there.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but I think the possibility is there.

Udoh is a tough comparison because Udoh provided Baylor with it lacked. OU lacks alot more than that Baylor team. OU needs an offensive rebounder and a back to the basket guy. What we need mostly is someone who's not going to be pushed around on the blocks and someone to fill the lane defensively. I don't think Osby can provide all these things. He definetely will be a back to the basket player. His ability to face a forward up will be an added plus.

Osby is a player I really wanted when former OU assistant, Rod Barnes, recruited him coming out of high school. Judging by everything I saw on video and read about him back then, he is the real deal. I couldn't believe our good fortune when he transferred to OU.

I don't know if his impact will rival that of Udoh. But he will definitely be an upgrade in our front court, as will Robert Goff. Both players would start on this year's team.

I'm worried about Goff. I think we need another big. I don't think he's a starter and we need a starter caliber player. Atleast a 20min a game guy. One thing we cannot do is get another tweener combo forward type guy. We need a big.

Last year was such a dissappointment, but this year is what it is...3 returning guys and a whole bunch of players that will need time to develop.

There are guys on this roster that need to time to develop. Clark will be much, much better next year. Osby is using this redshirt season to improve into THE GUY so that next year he will be THE GUY. Fitzgerald can score and will continue that growth...he just needs to become a better rebounder. Pledger is no PG, and he is struggling, but he will be much better next year. Neal is a guy that will eventually GET IT and when he does(maybe next year or NOT) He will be a solid player to have on this roster. Washington will be great for us coming off the bench. Taylor and Goff will both be a great addition to this team.

The Jury is still out on Newell, Blair, and Thompson.

This team needs our post players to become better rebounders and Capel MUST bring in 2 scoring guards.

Didn't Goff's coach, Steve Eck, say he would have the same impact at OU as Taj Gray? I haven't seen him play. But the Taj Gray comparison certainly got my attention. Sure hope he's right and you're wrong. We need impact players, not more guys to fill a spot on the roster.

I dont care who can do what outside of rebounding and playing defense. BOTH. If they cant do BOTH then stay away.

Taj was a prolific scorer and rebounder in Juco whereas Goff isn't scoring at a high rate and isn't rebounding at a high rate either. I've also been told he's not the most physical guy around. I hope it's wrong, but we need a little more insurance at the post than him.

I think both have potential but I would not consider either difference makers at this point and that is what the program needs.

Juco guys take time and transfers are hit or miss.

The program needs both to hit big time.

Exactly. That's why we need more insurance and competion at that position. Freshman, Prep, Juco, whoever. If we're going to get a pg, we must get a post. We need two.

So he got physical against this guy :Intensethompson:

The athleticism is definitely there, thats for sure...

but i'm done getting overly excited about guys that are highly recruited or hyped by the media/coaches/fans before the season even is played...

Same goes for Goff...

The good thing in my opinion is that we didnt settle on these guys like we did for quite a few on our current roster...so unless the talent just isnt there they have a chance to come right in and produce...
