According to Juco Recruiting he has been shown interest by Oklahoma.

6-10 C at Labette CC also Iowa State, Marshall & Houston Showing Interest

He averaged a little over 7 points and 7 boards last year, so his numbers weren't all that impressive. Then again, it would be foolish not to at least keep an eye on a 6' 10" to 6' 11" juco freshman. If he has a breakout season as a sophomore, OU won't be the only school showing an interest.

Thanks for posting, ArdmoreSooner!

Yep, he visited OSU last week and picked up an offer.

How many offers does OSU have out there? 15+?

No idea. Have 5 scholarships to give (only one member of the '13 class right now), and Ford and OSU aren't exactly in the position to be choosy, so he's probably throwing darts and seeing what sticks.

I've heard some rumblings that make me wonder if OSU doesn't make the tournament this year that Ford could be out. Thoughts on that? Also it seems like OSU has put a lot of eggs in the Stevie Clark basket and that could be another factor.

I think he'd be finished, and deservedly so. Lack of success + the guy being possibly the most disliked coach in OSU history (while at the school) wouldn't give him much rope if they missed the tournament for three straight years.

Cowboys are in the top 5 for Chris Jones, who might the best JUCO PG in the nation (couldn't qualify at Tennessee out of high school, ranked top 100), and also had another JUCO point guard visit this past weekend with Hamilton. I think they certainly want Clark, but I think they at least have some backup options.

All I know is that OSU is pressing for Clark harder than any other school is. I think Ford loves him some little guards, which makes Clark seem like a perfect fit for him.

What do you think about Clark and his ability to play point in college? Does he have that skill set right now, or is he going to be work in progress when he gets to the next level?

Also, what do you know about Corlby Ervin out of Carl Albert (I think)? I've heard Ford has been in contact with him.

I think Stevie's freshman year will be an adjustment period. A lot of the things he does to succeed at the high school and AAU level won't work, at least at first. He'll likely have a few games where he'll hit 5 threes or something ridiculous, and go off for 20 points to key a win, then he'll have some where he'll be a non factor. Give it a year or two, but he'll be fine. He works too hard and wants it too much not to.

Then on Ervin, yeah he got a call from OSU last week. He's moved to Edmond North for this year and if he had a jump shot, you can not convince he wouldn't be a high major player. At the high school level, there is no other player in Oklahoma that can affect the game in so many different ways. He's so strong and aggressive that he's like Marcus Smart lite. He rebounds, he gets steals, he plays good defense, its tough to keep him out of the lane, he's got surprisingly good court vision, he's just a bully out there.

The problem with him, is that his playing style works so well because Oklahoma basketball is down when it comes to elite players and overall size (after Shaq Morris and Jakob Hartsock, there are few quality 2013 bigs in Oklahoma). So in high school he can get away being a 1-5 type player with no true position. His recruitment has slowed because he can't shoot and while I'd argue he's a point, I'm not sure how many college coaches think the same. His game isn't the cleanest looking either, his handles, his passing are all funky looking, but they're still efficient. Of course, I'm a sucker for athletic, aggressive, do it all power guards (Russell Westbrook can do wrong in my eyes!), so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask on him.

One other factor, Stevie and Corlby played on the same AAU team in July and had really great chemistry together, at least I thought so. So about OSU putting a lot of the eggs in the Clark basket...

OSU seems to be in on some good players. Landing Smart and Forte was big also. He seems to be recruiting better here lately. But also seems to have a lot of roster turnover as well. But three misses in a row at any school with a little tradition will get you canned.

Wish we could land a HS big. I am usually not impressed with JUCO bigs. Seems talented ones that end up at OU are few and far between.

@jucorecruiting is someone to follow on twitter. Brad Winton is the guys name. He also has a website on JUCO basketball that is pretty good.

Ford seems to be a good recruiter but his recruits often dont pan out and he doesnt get anywhere.

Thanks, Ardmore! I'm glad you told us about Winton's web site. I like to keep tabs on juco players from time to time, especially when OU shows an interest in someone.

The site is nothing fancy, but it does seem to have some good juco recruiting information. This piece says that Hamilton and 6' 4" juco guard, Chad Frazier, are visiting Okie State this weekend.

I need to start checking the dates. Sam caught me on an article I posted a couple of weeks ago, only it was in May, 2011, not this year. :ez-laugh:

Ada you are welcome, I lived for a while in Hutchinson Kansas so I guess I have a fondness for JUCO sometimes!!
