Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

This is what happens when you can't feed the post to score! Kansas sat on the 3-point shot all day knowing our weakness is inside scoring. Our guards aren't quick enough to blow by anyone, so we're easy to guard if the defense can get through screens. I just watched our Big 12 and #1 seed chances go out the door!

You're kidding, right? Have you seen Isaiah gets past his guy when he wants... And our #1 seed chances are not over.

We still have a shot at a 1 seed, but we probably have to win until the conference tournament final to get it.

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

sadly this is a very avg kansas team..by their standards

Yup.. they just play smarter basketball and have better raw talent. I would kill for a landen lucas probably the most underrated player on their team and the KU fans would probably call him a bust by their standards

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

I think OU goes into the NCAA's with 6 losses maybe 7

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

Missed free throw for the win in lawerance and missed free throw for the tie at home.....

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

I agree 90%.. I just would not say we're easy to guard. But if we wanna win a title, let alone the conference we have to start working on the half court offense. Our bigs have to give us SOMETHING INSIDE on offense.

Kansas was getting wide open three's because had to guard their bigs. Our guys are smothered from 3 because nobody cares about our bigs. It's a huge advantage.

Agree 100%. In the NCAA tournament, most of the games slow down and become half-court games. And we are just too damn inconsistent in the halfcourt, partly because we don't get much contribution inside on the offensive end and partly because we are simply an average passing team too much of the time.

No doubt... We win out and win 2 really tough games at UT and at WVU... We would be a no brainier... Not saying we'll do that, but I guess it is possible. I'm so stinking mad right now... I have to endure all the dang KU fans telling me that my team is good, but their guys went nuts... Blah blah blah... I'm do tired of KU... Not saying they don't deserve it, but OUr guys have worked so hard and deserved this one!

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

KU has more basketball talent, they are well coached.

I hate that Buddy will take the missed free throw personally because he is such a great kid.

OU could have lost to Texas, West Virginia, or Iowa State at home easily, couldn't pull it out today.

I know the players wanted to win the Big 12 but the NCAA's are more important at the end of the day. They can make a nice run in March.

Have to keep playing.

If OU can get hot from the outside then yes they could make a deep run

That's just not this team... We keep ranting about no post production, but OUr guys aren't gonna turn the back to the basket... And the NCAA is about guard play... We have good guards. We will be fine... the problem wasn't our post play and we were not smothered as you are saying here... We missed open looks quite often in that game. And we couldn't come up with a few critical rebounds.

OU didn't get a lot of open looks..unless I missed them

Buddy should take it personally. He didn't play well today on either end of the court.

He will because he cares about his play and his team.

You must have missed them, but Woodard alone missed 4-5 open looks. He was wide open

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

OU is a good team. OU is only a great team when they are hitting 3's at a record pace. I see this as an Elite 8 team probably. They could get a favorable matchup and do better, but they will see good defense in the NCAA Tourney, like they've seen from KU, UT, and WVU.

Re: >>>>>OU-Kansas: The Rematch Game Thread<<<<<

I agree. I think he needs to forget about being player of the year and become team player of the year. He has been pressing for the past month or so and gets himself in a terrible rhythm for the first 20 minutes or so.

I'm not ranting about anything. We are who we are. And I didn't say we were smothered either:confused: but what I did say is that it would help our cause if we had a little more contribution from the inside guys. That doesn't necessarily mean playing with our "backs to the basket", but getting some point production any way that we can get it.

Also, the NCAAs are not all about guard play. I will make the argument that defensive efficiency is a better correlation to NCAA success (with stats). Yes, having good guards helps, but it is not the "be all and end all" that is so often repeated. Smart possessions and taking care of the ball usually go hand in hand with good guard play....and outside of scoring, we have been a inconsistent in these areas of late.
