OU vs #1 BU 8pm CST ESPN2

We had built momentum and chipped away from being down either 12 or 11 and we ended the half the last 3 possessions:

1. Austin reeves contested no pass pull up midrange that he passed out of and almost landed his jump for a travel and forced the pass into the lane like a rocket = basically a turnover

2. Austin reeves beautiful cross over and drive alley oop to manek.

3. Austin reeves pull up no pass contested mid range shot that had no chance (in his defense, i think he was trying for a 2 for 1... but we got the ball with 5 secs left and airballed a 3 i think)

Imagine taking 5 shots. 5 rebs 3ast and no turnovers and still get blamed for the loss.

Point one wasn’t a TO but poster says basically a TO.

That’s some real hate.

He scored 2 points in the game. He had a big fat goose egg in the second half. JB had triple his point total and also had a goose egg in the second half. You can’t hype a guy and say he’s part of the “big 3” then complain when he gets criticized for disappearing in big games.

Ok.

Top 3 scorer on our team. 13pts a game.

NO ONE PLAYED WELL outside Williams. Imo

Carry on.

Folks... Baylor is the No. 1 team in the country. They are extremely good.

We got out hustled and out coached at home. Team looked like they didn’t really care about beating the #1 team in the country. No doubt Baylor is better but to be out-efforted is just unacceptable.

They aren’t the #1 team without Teague. A team loses one of its two double digit scorers, and still posts a double digit win.

Wasnt blaming him for the loss, if you knew how to read (which is doubtful).. the 3 series was a real kick to the nuts of our momentum tho which was very disappointing. I just dont think reaves fits in this team very well. He clearly wants to be THE GUY, but hes prolly really a 9/10 pt per game player..

It was a weird game. Sometimes we had some good spurts. But yet no one really played well.

OU picked the wrong night to have a cold shooting night. I have one question, why isn't Williams ( I think I'm right) playing more he seemed to really want the ball

they just beat a top 15 team without him (in a blow out)

and the #5 conf team without him

they are a great team will be a 1 seed and have the longest winning streak in BIG 12 HISTORY

Come on man... he scored 2 points and got benched. He was ineffective against the high level Baylor guards.

Austin was bad. Can’t sugarcoat it. Glad he got benched. Most interesting storyline for the rest of the year is him IMO. Is he gonna start? How much does he play? How will he react?

It only took 26 games for Lon to finally do something about Reaves.

Postgame column from Guerin Emig. Excerpt...

Oklahoma lost to No. 1 Baylor Tuesday night, though the story was as much in the stands as on the court. The announced crowd at the Lloyd Noble Center was 10,017.

It looked from the ESPN telecast like a crowd closer to 8,017 – OU’s announced attendance figure is paid, not actual, including ticket-buyers who don’t show up – but for Sooner standards it was still a good house. It was a massive improvement from OU’s last home game against Iowa State Feb. 12, when 8,235 was announced but maybe 4,000 showed up.

Pictures of that pitiful crowd made their way to social media and OU basketball attendance, annually a source of bother, was a sob story again.

I heard from several fans on Twitter Sunday, when my response to a tweet about the OU-Kansas game in Lawrence the previous day elicited this response from another tweeter: “As an OU fan I am jealous... OU home games suck.”

My follow-up to that: “Sad part about all this LNC chatter – games there don’t always suck. Get a decent crowd, decent student section and OU has a real home court advantage. Problem is, and always will be, the only sure way to draw fans there is with a transcendent player or team. Good doesn’t cut it.”

Then came an airing of grievances, several of which centered around the arena.

He has a problem getting open against defenders with quicker feet. It happens, but he exacerbates the issue by forcing shots which he should know better. While at Wichita State he might have shot well from the outside, but chances are he was getting good looks of the basket and making the best of it. He's in a different offense and it really doesn't suit his game. He and Manek both thrive on being open upon receiving the ball and squaring up with feet set and letting it go.

Williams is not a good team defender and really struggles to defend pick and roll. He's a good offensive player but not as good a defender as Harmon, Bienemy, Reaves, Hill, etc.

Emig says, "Bottom line is the LNC didn’t keep people away."

How does he know this? I guarantee you the LNC kept people away. As stated in the other thread, the LNC is a nightmare for those with disabilities and even tall people like myself that have to wedge into a seat. The fact that more people showed up to see OU battle #1 Baylor is not evidence that the arena didn't keep people away who would otherwise have come out to see this matchup.
