OU vs Maryland Eastern Shore 7pm FSOK

Congrats. The comment on Doo might be the most ridiculous thing posted in ages, and that's saying something. He has been awful ... I mean, other than being perfect from the floor and line so far tonight, and being the reigning Big 12 player of the week, and being a good bet for 18- 20 and 8-10 boards, he is just terribly inconsistent.

Do you know what inconsistent means? The dude is shooting 35% on the year coming into this game. Before tonight he had 48 points on 49 shot attempts for the year. That’s not efficient at all. Tonight he was 7/7. The other night he was 7/21. Inconsistent.
He can be a very, very, very good basketball player for us. As Lon has said, he needs to be more assertive for 40 minutes. He only attempted 4 shots in the first when I wrote that rant.

I'm glad we decided to show up for the second half. It's hard to put a positive spin to the fact that one of the worst D-1 teams was 14-30 against us from beyond the arc. I don't even want to imagine what a good outside shooting team would accomplish against us...can only hope for remarkable improvement.

Well, nice recovery. It appears we are a second half team. Keep working..

Last year he shot 50% and was all Big12, this year averaging 16 & 11. Maybe don’t make crazy statements and when you get called out your argument was “I felt that way 30 minutes ago”.

Yep, I do. He's been really good to great in each of the last three games. Was a little rusty in his first game but still had a double double. I'd like to think anyone who watches the games would recognize how good he has been and wouldn't focus on one stat (shooting percentage) that is skewed by one game, and that doesn't come close to measuring all the ways he impacts the game.

Giving up 33.3% on 3s, haven’t watched the game yet but I’m assuming it was uninspired effort in the 1st half & gave up some shots. I’m excited about this team’s ability to play defense.

Much better 2nd half. Effort and focus was improved on defense especially on rotations. There were not as many open looks nor guys getting beat off the dribble as much. And we actually went inside/drove to the basket and took advantage of our height....imagine that. Basketball isn't rocket science...take advantage of your strengths damnit.

I'm also of the opinion that even the worst teams in Division I are bound to have a game or two where they hit some threes. And UMES shooters' were in a nice rhythm for far too much of the night tonight....it was very frustrating.

On to KC now.

Defense was a little better the 2nd half. But the offense was really bad the first half and settled for jump shots too much. 2nd half they started out almost completely going to the basket and built that lead.

I agree, other than a win not much to talk about in this game..

Large margin of victory.... Terrible opponent... Will be the least memorable game ou plays all year..

Next.

I don't get Fox Sports regional channels and didn't get to listen to the radio broadcast. When SoonerSports posts the replay, should I skip the first half?

I always like watching bad & good. Makes you see differences, who did what, what changed, etc.

Stanford having their way with William & Mary. 39-25 at the half.

It wasn't great by any means, but it wasn't like we were atrocious all 20 minutes. Were up by 11 or 12 and then feel asleep snd they went on a run. The defense wasn't great but they also made a handful of contested shots they wouldn't usually make. But to your question, you won't miss anything significant if you skip it.

I didn't get to watch the game and probably won't see the replay since I don't have FSOK.

I noticed that MES made 12 3's up until 11:27 to go in the 2nd half, which is when they cut it to 52-57. However, they were 2-7 from 3 from that point on and OU finished on a 34-12 run.

Did Lon/OU do anything differently on D from that point on?
Would be interesting to note for a good outside shooting team.

What crazy statement? Doolittle has been inconsistent throughout his career here. He is probably our best player. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been inconsistent. In the 10 games at the start of conference play last year he scored: 12, 16, 9, 24, 7, 9, 7, 4, 12, and 7. And then he scored at least 14 in every game after that until scoring 8 against UVA. That was after starting the year averaging 5.9 points through the first 10 games of the season. He’s been highly inconsistent. Hopefully we see less of that throughout this season. I thought he could be an NBA player after his freshman year. That’s unrealistic, but he can still be very good for us.

Fascinating. I was very happy with our team tonight. Show a lot of pure, raw talent, more than I've seen since Buddy left. Wouldn't surprise me if we were at least a Sweet Sixteen team once the pieces fit.

Glad I watched it before coming here to get depressed.

So he averaged 10.7 after a hectic year and then became an all conference player while rebounding & playing defense. Yeah he turned a 180 lol. His sophomore season was crazy bc of the suspension & the craziness that happened. After a slow start to his junior season he’s been great.
