Paradise Jam

Illinois and Kentucky went long, so OU will not start until 7:30.

Illinois 77 Kentucky 71
Surprised? Both were 4-0.

Was under the impression before this game that Kentucky had not played as expected. Imagine they will get better but they may be overranked right now.

Kaylon has been weak on defense and rebounding, and Gioya just can't be allowed to touch the ball right now. Nobody is hitting for us.

They are killing us because we are standing flat-footed. Several times, we have had three or four standing under the boards, and a single player from SF steps inside them and gets the rebound while they don't even move. Kaylon has been watching the game. I think she can watch from the bench. Gioya has zero points on five shots and three turnovers. Peyton has had two shots blocked.

Maddie at least made an effort, but a pass bounced off Kay Kay's hands without even being slowed down. Turnover Maddie? Sharane and LaNesia are the only two who have played a lot who have hustled.

I think I'd put Treece in the game and see if anyone can hit a layup. Kay Kay and Vivi have missed several.

They are calling it a bit tough on OU. A couple of those blocks were charges. But, they are working. We aren't.

Well, Sherri went 9 deep in the first half, according to tweets. That's a positive -- maybe.

Surprised we are apparently playing poorly.

Does anyone think Maddie is injured?

Kentucky whipped Baylor 74-64 earlier.

Yes, but I thought there had been some comeback wins from lesser teams, but looked at schedule and I was wrong.......only Central Michigan was close....well, Baylor close and I think that might have been a comeback but still they are doing better than I had thought, you are right.

We are not even trying to get rebounds. We just let them get a fast break three when we had nobody under our bucket, but still left Williams wide open for a three in the corner. We have some players who ate too much molasses.

Our youth showing or just players stinking it up?

It really isn't the kids. Kay Kay and Gioya are returning starters. We are playing with the lack of enthusiasm that I haven't seen this year. Kay Kay is just totally incompetent at playing her position tonight. She can't rebound or hit a shot. Gioya can't help making mistakes.

Gabi has made a couple of mistakes. But, she is OK.

Guess we are seeing things differently......Gioya hasn't made shots but at least she is getting to the basket. We aren't going to win games against good teams if we can't drive to the basket and hit lay-ups or jump shots.
One of these days I think Gioya will start hitting more shots.....jmo she has also gotten some rebounds and you don't get assists if no one hits......nothing about this game surprises me, but I was just hoping for better....still hoping the team gets better as the season progresses

So it appears the poor quality of early season opponents and our own hopes led us all to have mistakenly believed Kay-Kay had turned the corner?
