Paradise Jam

The are collapsing on her when she gets the ball in the post and she's not been able to find an open player.

Kay Kay misses two free throws and two layups.

I see Gioya as a turnover waiting to happen right now. When she touches the ball, it seems that we don't score. She had one good game on assists.

Treece is killing them.

Kay Kay isn't making much of an effort. Yes, they are collapsing. But, she is flat-footed.

You just can't let them have all these offensive rebounds, and they are doing it because we are standing around.

This is a complete lack of emotion that began with the start of the game. It is the complete opposite of the earlier three games.

83-68 final.

I think Sherri has to send a message. Treece and LaNesia deserve more time. Sharane is doing well.

I said before the game that S. Florida was as much of a threat to me as Kentucky. Well, they came to play. We didn't start with any enthusiasm, and we played catchup all game. Sometimes, you have to jump.

We have talked a lot about defense and rebounding. We aren't very good at either. We also are not very athletic, especially the bigs. LaNesia Williams is athletic and has some skills and therefore she was able to compete very well tonight. Sharane looked good the first half but they defended her better in the second half. Maddie, Ortiz, Gioya, Derica, and Kornet are all a step slow when it comes to competing with real athletic players.

Our block outs suck. Jenkins is a really good player but we made her look like a first team All-American.

I lost count of how many wide open shots we gave up. We also had no help defense at all. Why didn't we use a 1/2 or 3/4 trap to shake things up in the second half instead of waiting to the very end of the game? I don't often understand Sherri's thinking when it comes to shaking things up defensively to see if we can get some stops and turnovers.

Is it me or did Kay Kay look sluggish tonight? She looked like she was jogging back on offense. Maybe a touch out of shape? Has she been doing this all year and I haven't noticed?

Just my opinion but I don't see us winning a game at this tournament, I hope we play better against Kentucky.

I think Ortiz is quick on defense. Moves her feet a lot. I don't quite understand how all of our girls are on side of the basket and two opponents are set up on the 3 on the other side. Can someone explain that?

In a nut shell, we got out coached, out played, out hustled, out rebounded, just name it we didn't do it. Only 11 turn overs, that is positive. McKenna, LaNesia, and Sharane came to play tonight, the rest of the team was an embarrassment. We will not beat many teams with no blocking out, pump faking on the block, and shooting 30 percent from the free throw line. A division 1 basketball team that can't hit their free throws. This team will be easy to defend, just foul them and put them on the line.

This team did not look like the team that played the last three games. I am not talking about level of competition either. I am talking about execution, moving the ball, and working for good shots. We put up 70 shots tonight to their 58, but we settled for three's even when the game was still in reach. Getting out rebounded by 22 boards was hard to watch. Where we hustled for rebounds in our first three games, we went back to our old style of rebounding, NOT!!

This team has some really talented kids, some smart kids, but they have to come and play every day, every possession if they want to succeed. This month away from home could very easily end up 2-5 going into the conference. I hope not, but after play tonight, they need some leadership to get these kids to play to their potential. It is early, but I don't want these kids falling back into bad habits and settle for mediocrity when we know they are better than that. One thing I did find out tonight, our best post player is a freshman, and she needs more minutes on the floor. Just a frustrated opinion on the whole mess.

Is sherri the type of person willing to bench an upperclassmen and start a freshman? And tell them if you want to start prove it to me?

I think she is but she is quicker to replace some players than she is others.

if we don't get better on defense and rebound conference Will not be pretty for us. I'm not going to overreact on this one game but the next two will tell me about that this team

Some of us have complained a long time about our players not jumping for rebounds. Tonight was painfully obvious how true that is. Several of our players think you can rebound just fine standing flat footed on the floor. I have never understood why our coaches tolerate that. Any player should be able to jump at least 12" off the floor. Failing to jump as high as you can is a complete lack of effort and should never be tolerated.

Agreed!

Tonight was frustrating because we have played correctly for three games, with enthusiasm. Tonight, we were so flat that it looked like we didn't want to be there.

Sherri has to shake some people up. Kay Kay has been like this for her entire career. When not challenged, she tears the floor up. When challenged, she becomes a flat-footed liability. She was about one of seven from the floor tonight, and she has been shooting over seventy percent.

Gioya has to quit making stupid mistakes. She scored seven late in the game when they were playing playground basketball. When everyone was playing for real, she wasn't even close on her shots. She was credited with three turnovers, but she caused a lot more than that. She acts as though she wasn't thinking about the next step at any time. She makes passes to where people were. She made a steal, dribbled the length of the court, and lost it off the dribble. It really wasn't stripped. She was losing it before the other player showed up. She was out of control.

I would sit both Kay Kay and Gioya. They need to earn their playing time. They haven't. I don't want Gabi and the freshmen contaminated with this type of behavior. When Kay Kay and Gioya are willing to work on effort, they can play. Both need to learn to think. LaNesia is much, much better at every aspect of the game than Gioya right now.

I was a little concerned about Little. She seemed unable to do anything to help.

and it could be many things. They are not home for thanksgiving, especially the freshmen. This is their first away game. Or it could be because they just didn't play well. But with Gioya, KayKay, and peyton not having good games. I am scratching my head.

Gioya and Kaylon are very inconsistent and I doubt that is going to change anytime soon. I think Peyton will bounce back quickly.

Little wasn't starting or playing a lot of minutes at aTm, if I remember correctly. That had to be for a reason. Maybe she can't consistently step up when the competition does.

It seems like I recognize the dribbling around the top of the circle back and forth until somebody(Carter) tries some desperation move that doesn't work, we get out rebounded and then give up an open shop. This defense couldn't guard or outbound a team of paraplegics.
