Would anyone be interested in doing weekly picks on the games this year. Obviously it would be just for fun. I will be more than happy to put it on.

If you just pick OU games, there are some who will never pick against the Sooners. If they don't think we can win, they just won't vote.

But, either way you decide to do it, I'm in!

This year for the first time since the Big 12 became a 10-team conference, there will be 19 conference game sessions instead of just 18. Five sessions will have only 4 games: sessions 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13. Two teams will be idle from conference play in each of those sessions.

This serves two purposes. One, each team is allowed the option of an off session to rest up the nagging bruises and such. Two, by spreading out those games during a time in which there is a reasonable chance of having juicy non-conference matchups picked up for national broadcast - usually by ESPN on Mondays, the conference it putting itself in a much more favorable position for possible national games. In the past - with 10 teams, teams were penalized by a national broadcast game (other than a conference game) by being forced to play three games in as little as five days, or even four games in seven.

Don't be terribly surprised if one or more of the Big 12's non-conference games is rescheduled for one of those bye sessions to reap the rewards of TV revenue and conference national exposure. I'm all for this change and really couldn't understand why it wasn't done that way from the start.

Anyway, back on topic, prior to the Big 12's decision to play 18-session conference seasons, whoever administered the Pick'em game over on Hoopscoop would choose one non-conference game to pick for each time two teams were idle during a conference session. Usually those games were high-profile matchups of top-25 teams outside the Big 12, but occasionally a matchup of relative unknowns would be chosen.

Just a thought...

BTW, the conference might also reschedule conference games scheduled on Sunday prior to a bye session to Saturday instead, to provide a day off between the session game and the non-conference one on national TV.

I can do every teams full schedule once a week which would be a lot of picks over a long period of time. I don't want anyone burnt out before March. Or we can do just confrence play.
