4.) Baylor
5.) Kansas State
6.) Texas Tech

Until we see what we really have you are probably accurate unfortunately.

Would you care to share you reasons on why OSU and Mizzou are so high and Kansas State and A&M are so low?

It seems to me many of the arguments one would use to drop A&M would apply to OSU as well.

Turgeon is a winner....doubt they finish below seventh, they always find a way.

OSU lost James Anderson and Obi, but I think this is Ford's most complete team. They have two studs in the post with Darrell Williams (juco) and Matt Pilgrim, and have Marshall Moses and Jared Shaw down there as well. The guard spots are great with Ray Penn, Keiton Page, JP Olukemi, Markel Brown, Brian Williams, and Nick Sidorakis.

I just think OSU is gonna be really good this year.

As for Missouri... well, they return 3 double-figure scorers who were sophomores last year (English, Denmon, Bowers) and add the #1 juco in the country at the power forward spot (Ratliffe). Their point guards are top notch with Mike Dixon and Phil Pressey. They have experience, talent, and are good at every position. They also have a great coach.

PG: Mike Dixon/Phil Pressey - GOOD
SG: Marcus Denmon- GOOD
SF: Kim English - All Conference
PF: Laurence Bowers - GOOD
PF: Ricardo Ratliffe - Newcomer of the Year

They just don't have a weak spot that I see. Do you see one?

Kansas State and A&M are so low?

#5 is low for K-State? They will be a good team and are a lock for the NCAA Tournament. Missouri lost JT Tiller (a liability on offense) and has two studs replacing him. K-State has 1 point guard and he isnt as accomplished as Dixon and Pressey.

As for A&M, I always rank them low and they always prove me wrong. They never look very good on paper, but they seem to always win under Turgeon. They had some big losses from last years team, but I would guess Holmes/Middleton/Loubeau will be a pretty good trio.

He just makes ridiculous lists like this every year to get people to argue with him so that he can tell them they are wrong.

Every year he tells us how great Texas Tech and Missouri and how bad Texas A&M will be. It gets old. So predictable.

Texas Tech wont finish ahead of Texas and we all know it. A&M wont finish 10th just like they didnt last year, even though we were all told how dumb we were for thinking they would be good again....like they are every year.

i'm not as high on kstate as a lot of the national media, but i have to admit, i'd be a little dissapointed with finishing 5th. and i'm sure the kstate staff would be interested to find out they only have one pg. they think they've got five.

honestly, if tech and osu finish above ut and a&m, or mu above kstate, i'll be pretty surprised. if all three of those happen it'll make me question everything i've ever thought i knew about big 12 bball.

Wow.

Every year he tells us how great Texas Tech and Missouri and how bad Texas A&M will be. It gets old. So predictable.

Missouri won the Big 12 two years ago and was one game off second place a year ago, lol. Are you sure I wasnt right about them?

I admitted that I always rank A&M low and they usually prove me wrong. Don't see the problem there.

Texas Tech starts 5 seniors who return from a 19 win team, has two all-conference players. They have two top 100 guys coming off the bench. They should win. If they don't, Pat Knight needs to go.

Texas Tech wont finish ahead of Texas and we all know it.

DFW seems to think Texas is going to have a rough year. And why cant a Tech team with 5 good seniors and some legit talent finish ahead of an unknown Texas team?

A&M wont finish 10th just like they didnt last year, even though we were all told how dumb we were for thinking they would be good again....like they are every year.

Already addressed this.

So if A&M keeps proving you wrong, why do you keep doing it? Do you have trouble learning from past mistakes?

Well, they keep losing important guys so it gives me justification to continue ranking them low.

This year they lost Donald Sloan (3 year starting pg), Bryan Davis (3 year starter at PF), and Derrick Roland (perhaps the best defensive guard in the conference). A&M traditionally has a bad basketball program so I keep expecting them to go back down.

The year before that they lost Josh Carter and Junior Elonu, two very good players. All-conference types.

Maybe this will be the year....

If OU finishes in the bottom 3 of the Big 12 then Jeff Capel will be put on a hot seat for the next season because really after 5 years he has 2 years with Blake Griffin and 3 years where OU didn't even make the NIT. Basically take out one guy and he's not even an NIT type coach. It may be unfair, but there's no way you can follow being a top 5 type team with 2 years of being under .500.

I have OU rated higher than most other people here so I think higher of Jeff Capel than some of the others on this board. I think at worst we are an NIT type team this year. And I posted earlier this summer that I think we will be in the NCAA Tournament. But bottom 3 of the conference is not acceptable.

Well, they keep losing important guys so it gives me justification to continue ranking them low.

3 problems with that logic.

1) they lost roland before the conf. season last year and did fine. hard to count a guy that didn't play as a loss for this year.

2) who they lost doesn't impact how they do this year. that's determined by who they have back, and they've got talented players.

3) you clearly understand the above point, since you have ku, osu and bu 1, 2 and 4. each of those teams lost two players that were at least as good, if not better, than sloan and davis.

man, i think that'd be a mistake. he's proven he can win when he has talent. and he's proven he can get talent.

but this year, he doesn't have the talent to compete.

same with tech. maybe you can make an argument for firing knight now, for not recruiting better players. why wait till after the season? he doesn't have the players to finish in the top half of the big 12, and it's unreasonable to expect.

Last year most of this board thought Missouri would finish well into the bottom half of the conference. His predictions for Mizzou have been closer than most non-Mizzou fans over the past couple of years.

And if Tony Mitchell can get eligible for the second semester (still a possibility), Mizzou has as much talent as anyone in the Big 12, if not more (he'd have four non-conference games and all of the conference season).

I don't know if he's proven to recruit all that well based on what his recruits have actually done on the court. I think that's more of the problem.

Other than KU winning it, that is the most ridiculous list I've ever seen.
