I was only able to take in 2 games tonight.

Saw the Compton Magic in one game, then Next Level Hoops academy in the second.

Nino Jackson was playing with the Magic, he ran some point for them. His crossover was sick tonight as he broke ankles but also dribbled into trouble much too often. He did most of his damage going to the rim and in transition.

Next Level is a team full of Oklahoma kids, with a lot from Lawton. I've seen them play quite a bit already this young AAU season and one player who is really starting to grow on me is Dre Wright out of Lawton Ike. He's 6'9 and skilled, he showed range out to the three point line tonight. Wright is still only around 75% from a broken bone in his leg he suffered during the high school season but for my money he's got the 2nd highest ceiling of Oklahoma kids in the class of 2012.

I will have more detailed reports as the weekend progresses as I have a full slate of games to catch tomorrow starting at 8 am. Going to try to catch a good blend of Oklahoma kids and some big names like Perry Ellis.

I suspect once Wright gets healthy, schools will be all over him. Matt Dougherty and SMU have gotten the first jump up with their offer to the 6'9 Lawton native. It will be interesting to see the action he will get after this weekend.

Also on the Next Level Academy team is a 6'3 guard, Delvonte Pieere of Lawton High. He is a shooter who averaged 19pts per game this past season as a junior. The times that I have seen him play this year, he has been automatic from the 3pt line and has also shown some athleticism in getting to the basket. His mid range game is an area that if he improves on, his stock will soar. Right now he is a low to mid major prospect if qualified.

Morning update.
Saw Team June lose a close one to Arkansas Hawks. Omega Harris and Tory Noel are two of their guards out of Midwest City and they're both two of the top guards in the state for 2014. Both were getting clutch buckets in a tight game. Omega has an invite to the prestigious Pangos All American camp.

Caught some of Dream Vision out of Vegas. Winston Shepard and Shabazz Mohammad are both the real deal. They have a lot of talent across the board including a 2012 big out of Bishop McGorman who UNLV had offered.

Saw Tulsa Elite, who have Reevy Norton and Don Simmons. Their team struggled vs a bigger Southern Select but both showed the ability to score.

Now watching Kansas Players vs Norman St-12, Perry Ellis is showing off a wide variety of offensive skills right now.

Going to catch some more Compton Magic and Team June this afternoon and some others, not sure how it will shake out with the brackets so the night games are up in the air.

Great stuff, Sam! Thanks for the updates and the time you spend on behalf of everyone at OUHoops. You and William are the best around as far as I'm concerned, and that includes the pay sites.

I'm always down with Lawton talent. Best pipeline of talent in the state over the years, especially in football.

I know a coach whose team played against both Wright from Ike and Christensen from McGuiness...and he says that Wright is by far the better player.

I've also seen Pierre play in person, and he can dominate a game on the move or shooting from outside.

Team June is one of the better 2014 teams in the region, maybe the country. We will have a feature on them some time down the line and discuss the obstacles that they will face as a team down the road.

In addition to the two players that Sam mention, Omega Harris and Torey Noel, they also have two guys with a ton of upside in Adrion Williams, a 6'5 wing out of Piedmont who has a very high seiling. Jake Hammond of Duncan, a 6'8 developmental player who has already made huge improvements over the few weeks of Team June practice.

What about Athletes First? Saw that after a quick start last week they dropped three straight. Didn't see them listed for the Real Deal.

Athletes First dropped two games today in The Battle of the Arch tournament in St. Louis. They may struggle some this year with 5 underclassmen and the talent in the 2012 class spread out amongst several different AAU teams.

Next Level Hoops Academy, the team with players based out of Lawton and Oklahoma City is currenty facing one of the best teams in summer ball in the Wisconsin Playground Warriors. The Warriors have Kansas recruit JP Tokoto as it's best player. Tokoto is a top 50 prospect.

One of the more unique teams this AAU season, the Union Select out of Tulsa, placed 32 out of 144 for the 17U division. The Union Select consist of mostly Tulsa Union players from 2014 to 2012. Expect Tulsa Union to be a top team in class 6A because of this summer.

Quenton Paras out of Lawton Mac tore it up today, showed the ability to be a big 12 player if he his motor is more consistent. power guard out of the Tj Taylor/Marcus Smart mold, going to have a lot on him and others when I finally get back to Oklahoma.

This is a small part of Paras' breakout day, look for more video footage on him and others along with breakdowns on play over the week as I actually get some sleep.

Unless someone is transferring the entrie Union Select team is kid from Union.

Those are the same kids that went on a 2 month winning streak this season and had to shoot 21% for the game to be eliminated from the state tourney. This summer will help, however they were already one of the top teams before this summer for next year.
