Roster Next Year?

I won't be disappointed if I don't see Thomson or Hardrick again.

anyone else like how the few minutes that thompson played yesterday he hadn't changed. Still side stepping and avoiding any contact and throwing his arms back to not get a foul

he sucks i wish capel would get rid of him.

Thompson isn't going anywhere unless he wants to leave. JMO.

Just me but I will be very disappointed if I DO see Thompson,Hardrick next year.

Hardrick is gone. I know for a fact that the coachs were going to get rid of him last year if they didn't have so many guys leave.

With the right additions, I think Thompson could play a small role next season. He's a good outside shooter and could drag a bigger defender away from the basket. I could see him playing 10-12 minutes a game just as a shooter. That's the only discernable strength I see in his game, though.

I can't see Thompson being back next year. Since Jan 15 he has appeared in a grand total of one game (Baylor big 12 tourney) and played 2 minutes. So during several beatdowns we received he still couldn't even get off the bench, even in trash time. That simply doesn't happen unless there is some larger issue than just poor performance.

Agreed, same with Hardrick. I think we need to have as many usable roster spots as possible because we lack depth everywhere.

I think Thompson will be back. Even if he is not back...I don't think that his scholarship will be used unless we get a transfer. I just don't see us signing 4 more guys...especially with Capel going after the 2012 kids hard. Unless he wants to give the scholarship to Honore...which makes sense also.

I think next year is all or nothing for Capel. If we don't get to the NCAA tournament he's gone anyway.

AGREE but if he is back why waste a scholarship on someone that won't play. Might as well keep Hardrick here. He can't recruit like this is his last year.

If he is passing his classes and on pace to graduate and there is not another prospect to use his scholarship why not keep him? We need some guys to graduate and dumpping non-productive guys looks bad in my opinion. Now if he is not making it in the class room he needs to go to a better environment for him athletically and academically.

If nobody else leaves, and we don't sign anybody but Goff, we'd have 11 players next year. We know that we are actively recruiting Cezar/Smith and Jurick.

My guess is that Capel may try to move Hardrick, but there is really no reason to move Thompson unless he wants to leave, or unless he has a bad attitude. We won't land anybody at this point that will contribute, so we might as well let Thompson play out his senior year, and get in on somebody next year. He and Washington will be the only seniors next year. If you move Thompson and replace him this year, you might only have one scholarship to give next year. For that reason alone, I'd let him stay.

Next years roster.

PG - TJ Franklin - Senior
PG -Carl Blair - Junior
PG - (incoming recruit)
SG - Stephen Pledger - Junior
G/F - Cameron Clark - Soph
F - Tyler Neal - Soph
F - Romero Osby - Junior
F - Andrew Fitzgerald - Junior
F - CJ Washington - Senior
F - Barry Honore - Senior
C - Robert Goff - Junior

My prediction as to who leaves

Cade Davis - graduating
Kyle Hardrick - looks like he's already gone
Nick Thompson - band-aid for Tiny Gallon- knows he will not play, will transfer
Calvin Newell - band-aid for TMG - may transfer due to grades or lack of PT

That team wouldn't even be able to practice right.

Gotta have more bodies than that.

It's not much less than we have now. I think Beau Gerber and Michael Neal still pracitice with them.

But yeah, hopefully we will add one more. Most people think it needs to be a big body, but if Newell leaves, we may need 2 more guards.

I dont think it matters if we start with 11 or 15, Capel only plays his 5 starters 35 minutes and gives a couple of guys a few mins here and there, so if we have 15, 3 or 4 will probably transfer anyways.
