Someone is bound to go off soon enough, right?

Buddy, Pledger, Fitz, M'Baye, Hornbeak...we've got a lot of guys who haven't had "that game" yet (like Osby's UT game). I think someone goes ape on Baylor and leads us to a win.

From SoonerSports.com ... In Big 12 play, Baylor leads the league in scoring margin (+11.8 ppg), scoring defense (56.3 ppg), 3-point field goal percentage (.384), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.241) and blocked shots (6.0 bpg). It ranks second in field goal percentage defense (.362).

It will be interesting to see how OU attacks the Baylor zone defense. It would be nice if a couple of Sooners get hot.

Not really a "help" to OU that Baylor plays zone. We don't shoot it well from deep, which is generally where you can get your open looks.

I'm guessing they play their zone in a manner that takes away Osby at the free throw line area. That might leave some open looks on the wing. We're gonna need to knock down probably 7+ threes to have a chance, I'd think. Also need to turn Baylor over, and get some cheap points in transition.

With Baylor's size, athleticism, and multiple three point shooters, I don't see this as a particularly good matchup for OU.

I'm not sure how good of a defensive team Baylor is because their stats are a little inflated based upon who they have played (TCUx2, Tech, and Texas)...those teams aren't exactly offensive juggernauts. They've also played a good offense in OSU and a decent offense in KU as well. I think they are ok defensively, but to what degree....I don't think we know yet.

I would like to see some jump trap defense on the smaller Pierre Jackson, we just can't allow him to dribble out of it because then its off to the races where he's at his best. I also like fitz and ro at the elbow and short corner against their zone with Pledger hopefully knocking down multiple threes!!

Many teams struggle against long, athletic teams that play zone as their base defense.

Baylor's lone conference loss was at Allen Fieldhouse, 61-44.

If nothing else, I'm sure Osby & Co. are going to be really happy Withey's not lurking in the paint :)

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I think OU steals this one. The Kruger-Drew match-up should be worth several points, right?

Agree 1000%. If we can contain Pierre Jackson, we will win. Period.

Despite Baylor's 7'1" center, we have a size advantage at just about every other position.

Baylor is by no means a "long" team outside of Austin. Jackson is 5 or 6 inches shorter than our shortest guard. Our starting guards go at 6'3, 6'3, 6'4". There's go at 5'10, 6', 6'1". If we penetrate effectively with our guards (Hield and Hornbeak), we'll find a lot of openings in their zone.

I think Hornbeak, Pledger and M'Baye will all have some big games before the season is over. I also think Tyler Neal will make a nice contribution off the bench one or two games. He has done it in the past. I think Neal just needs to hit his first open look in a game to get some confidence. I am not looking for 20 points or anything crazy from Neal more like 8-10 with a solid shooting percentage.

Two out of three is not bad. Pledger and M'Baye came up huge in tonight's game. Osby, Hield and Fitz played well, too. But those Steven and Amath were the difference.

Great prediction pnkranger. Glad it came true
