KOMU's Chris Gervino mentions Oral Roberts' Scott Sutton, Purdue's Matt Painter and Dayton's Brian Gregory as three on MU's initial list.

:)

@D!ckieV Let me get a little word on on Missouri job - an excellent choice would be Cuonzo Martin of Missouri St.

Cuonzo martin has gotten a lot of talk on powermizzou. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was one of the final candidates. He is from the St. Louis area, was an assistant for eight years under Gene Keady and Matt Painter, Mo State has improved each year under Martin, he is known as a good recruiter, and his teams play good defense. The Gene Keady tree is also impressive having turned out Bruce Weber, Kevin Stallings, Steve Lavin, and Matt Painter.

Painter's a long shot but he has been mentioned as well. Apparently he isn't being paid very well and Purdue's AD is known to be somewhat cheap. I still don't see him leaving but he would be a home run hire if the Tigers could land him.

Scott Sutton and Brian Gregory weren't names that the fan base liked much.

Just like you said Anderson to Arkansas wasnt going to happen? :)

And just like I said Missouri to the Big 10 was likely.

I can't be blamed for other people's lies.

But Sutton to Missouri... that would make absolutely zero sense. That's lowering the bar below where Quin set it.

It will be interesting to see how fans react to Cuonzo over the next few days. He seems like the early front runner.

Sure you can when you repeat them as truth and as absolutes.

Missouri fans seem to be more sensible than OU fans because if OU even considered hiring someone like Cuonzo Martin people would be jumping off of bridges

Well, supposedly the AAU coaches in Missouri really like Martin. Also, he's been actively recruiting Otto Porter, and the MU fans in KC believe if they hire Martin he will get Porter to come to Columbia.

One MU fan on the radio mentioned the possibility of Gene Keady coming to work for Martin for a year or 2 to help him get his program established. That would be a home run for Mizzou if that were to happen.

There is a ton of speculation as to who Missouri will hire. The names that have been making the rounds so far are:

Cuonzo Martin – Head Coach Missouri State. The former Purdue star and assistant is a hot commodity right now. He led MSU to a 26-9 record this past season. Is 61-41 in three seasons.

Mark Fox – Head Coach Georgia. Was a leading candidate last time around. The Kansas native led the Bulldogs to a 21-12 record this year. Was 123-43 in 5 seasons at Nevada.

Josh Pastner – Head Coach Memphis. Many around him are saying that he’s not happy with the support at Memphis. There are rumors that the administration is trying to extend his contract to keep him there. Not sure if his interest is just a ploy to jack up the price, or if it’s legit.

Scott Sutton – Head Coach Oral Roberts. This is the second time today that his name has come up in conversation (also mentioned at Bradley). Is the all-time winningest coach in ORU history with 223 wins.

Brian Gregory – Head Coach Dayton. The former Michigan State associate head coach is 172-94 in 7 seasons at UD. Interesting fact – played 1 season at Navy (1985-86) where he was a teammate of David Robinson.

Matt Painter – Head Coach Purdue. I keep hearing his name when people talk about Missouri. He is a Purdue alum, so not sure how that factors into the decision.

Ben Jacobsen – Head Coach Northern Iowa. He’s 109-57 in his five seasons at UNI. Most known for beating Kansas last year in the NCAA tourney (and advancing to the Sweet 16 with 30 wins).

Personally, I believe Scott Sutton would be succussful at Missouri. He's a good coach and much less prone to get in trouble than his more infamous dad and bro.

Sutton interviewed at Bradley and then withdrew his name.

Fox is out as he was quoted today as saying "I guarantee I'll be at Georgia next year."

Doesn't get much more cut and dried than that, unless he plans on pulling a Saban.

If I were to hire Scott Sutton, I would have to put in his contract that Ratboy cannot be on his staff.

It would be fun to see that ugly SOB (Sean Sutton) on the sidelines in Norman. The students could have a lot of fun with him.

In reality I like the idea of Scott Sutton getting a better job. I like to see guys move up from the smaller schools. That is how it used to happen. I don't like this new trend of everyone out paying for someone else's coach.

If Mizzou came calling I would think about pulling a Saban... Mizzou is a better job. Plus he would come in with a talented roster to work with as well.
