We took our freshman parade on the road (we play 6 freshmen considerable minutes):

Played a GREAT first 15 minutes and a very mediocre next 25. Opened the game up with a 13 point lead and let it quickly dwindle away and they controlled the game the second half. We stopped executing and ended up losing by a little over 20. Two of our freshmen led us with 23 and 18 points respectively. Once again, points in the paint were critical and until we get better in the paint and get some true posts to add to this group then we will struggle. (looks like it will be a year long struggle)

I SHOULD be adding a couple of kids in two weeks. I have a 6'6" kid coming in (supposedly) that will help with rebounding and interior defense for sure....and a juco guard that averaged 20 ppg last year and hit 60 threes......both of them will help a lot. I also have another PG coming.....he may be able to help but I am reserving judgement until I see him.

Gotta keep plugging away!!!

I'm sorry NorthCarolinaSooner I must have missed this awhile ago, but at what college do you coach? Sorry, just curious

Sounds like you have some help coming. Hope those guys arrive, and are ready to play.

NCSooner is the head coach at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte.

He coached high school ball in Greensboro last season, at a school known as one of the best in the Triad area. The college he's coaching at now was a smooth 0-28 last season, so he definitely has his work cut out for him.

NCSooner,

Did you say you did not have any scholarship players this year? That seems like a tough row to hoe.

No scholarships right now....but we play in the USCAA DII which is non-scholarship and equivelant to DIII pretty much. A lot of our teams are dual affiliated with the NAIA DII. We may add schollies in 3 years.

Meanwhile we play a mix of NCAA DI, DII, DIII and NAIA schools mixed with other USCAA

It is tough but I like a challenge and feel like we are on the right track.

Have y'all played Ray Willis' team yet?? And if so....How did he play??

Dang, that is quite the mix of competition. Does the school plan on moving up to one of those other affiliations eventually?

Pillman...we played Ray Willis' team last weekend.....they killed us.....Ray had 11 points........Dominique Sutton (KSU transfer) had 19 points and 7 dunks. He was a beast.

P230 we may eventually move up to NCAA DII in the future....or NAIA DI
