@OU_MBBall: OU is shooting 46.5% (59-127) from 3-point range this year (second nationally). Six Sooners are averaging at least 45.0% from long distance.

We gotta be close to best in the nation in 3 point defense too.

That is an amazing stat at any point of the season!

I don't expect our hot shooting to continue. But if this team can shoot even close to 40% from three in most games, they will be hard to beat.

What is even more amazing is when you eliminate all the late game shots by the walk ons.

It appears to me there are four of those (one is by C.J. Cole so I am not sure if he took that at a more normal point or at the end playing with a bunch of walk ons). It becomes 48% when you eliminate those four shots. The starters are 49 of 97 at 50.5%. OU has played three pretty respectable programs in 6 games so it isn't like they have not faced defense.

The NCAA has a good stats site:

http://stats.ncaa.org/rankings/ranking_summary

OU is currently in top 5 nationally in:

defensive rebounds per game (1)
FG pct D (1)
3pt FG pct D (1)
3pt FG pct (3) Note: KU is 1

Conversely, where we don't show up real well is in FT opportunities and percentages; and assists (which all makes sense).

I'm not overly worried about number of assists and number of FTs because that's not who we are. I do hope we can improve those numbers some and I especially hope we can improve our FT percentage in conference.

Cousins is getting closer and you can tell from the last game that coaches have been working with him. He was much more squared when he shot them last game and I saw Coach Henson was going through the motion to him from the bench.

Funny that if you force your opponent to miss a lot of shots, you get a lot of defensive rebounds :)

What's great about that is the opposing teams can't concentrate on just one or two guys to try and shut down. However, nobody has mentioned this but Villanova was blanketing Buddy all over the court in the 2nd half on Monday. Even 25-30 feet from the basket.
