Tom Penders stepping down at Houston

Time to invest in Houston-area pubs!

Hmm, Gillispie...I guess they wouldn't be worried about bringing in a new style.

It would be a very good hire for UH.

It was great when he told Andy Katz that he thought he'd be there for a long time, he loves coaching, and he wanted to put a rest to the rumors that he'd be leaving. I guess that was maybe to save his job. Looks like he was forced out.

I wonder if its because the Houston AD knows BCG would agree to become the coach?

Sort of like the rumor that Louisville forced Crum to step down because Pitino was available. Not comparing Crum to Penders, of course.

or gillespie to pitino, i hope...

BCG didnt turn into some bad coach suddenly at Kentucky. It was a bad chain of events and a bad situation he was ill-prepared for. I bet he ends up kicking behind whereever he shows up next.

BCG is going do really well in CUSA.

Pastner is hoping for a Memphis move to a power conference, he wants no part of BCG.

Despite BG's shortcomings at UK, the way he elevated UTEP and A&M basically from scratch should indicate that he can elevate the program that Penders has set in place. If I'm a Houston fan I would love to have BG.

BCG to Houston just makes too much sense, he could be the new memphis of the conference with the local talent. It will be interesting to see what happens down there. Hey maybe Tubbs should throw his name out there for the job.:billy:

That certainly seems like a logical move...

And if it does happen, I would expect that within a few years Houston will dominate C-USA.

Boy, did Tulsa ever screw up by not hiring him when they had the chance...
