Transfer Portal Thread

Sam Godwin, Wofford big man, entered the portal.

Why is that interesting? Two reasons...

1. He played high school basketball at Southmoore (Moore, OK). A lot on here will, obviously, remember the name.

2. He picked up a quick follow from Clayton Custer tonight.

Godwin is 6'9 230 lbs. In only 14 ish minutes per game, Godwin averaged 6 ppg & 3 rpg while shooting 62% from the field. His best game was probably 17 points & 5 boards vs Chattanooga (quick look).

Coming out of HS, he had offers from Wofford (duh), Tulsa, Southern Illinois, North Texas, and Army (D1s that is).

FWIW, not saying it's that likely that he'll end up at OU...no idea, yet.

I'll add him to the OP in a little while.

Of course, we don't know the dynamics if the situation. But, if he can barely get on the court for Wofford.... why would OU recruit him? Maybe they're not. I guess it's just a follow. I was thinking(hoping) OU would get a star at a lower level or same level who wanted to come to OU and star on the big stage. Ah well we'll see what happens.

Moser's fall class was outstanding. Hoping it can carry over to this offseason..

It probably won't turn into anything. I monitor way too many things, lol. I also find way too many things interesting. Often in my own little world. :)

If they somehow made room for Godwin, he has three years to play and could contribute eventually but yeah, they need immediate help from a known quantity (ready to play).

Yeah…that’s my point. Prep schools take away 90% of the elite prospects that would’ve been non-qualifiers. Almost all successful juco players are late bloomers.
 
Dildy followed Desmond Cambridge Jr tonight. Transfer guard from Nevada (and Brown before that). Has played 4 years and has averaged 17.3 (fr), 15.7 (so), 16.3 (jr), & 16.2 (sr). A bucker getter, obviously.

His brother, Devan, plays at Auburn. Originally from Nashville, TN.
 
Two more follows from Dildy this a.m. - Grant Basile (Wright State) & Gus Okafor (SE Louisiana).

Okafor declared for the draft and entered the portal at the same time. He's not getting drafted.

Played HS basketball at Putnam City North. Started 15 games this last season.
 
Groves brothers on the SIsooners podcast .. talked about the Sooners taking 2 guys from the portal and being excited about it

Tanner also talked about his #1 off season goal is to gain weight and get stronger

jacob talked about wanted to improve everything across the board but bigger and stronger is also his priority ..

Per 247, OU has also reached out to Northern Iowa transfer F Noah Carter.

Did it sound as if they know for certain that will happen, and who those two players will be, or just assume that is what we will do?

i think they are assuming ... i don't think they know who the players might me

also portal guys can take official visits now unlike last off season .. so the process will take longer
