I lived in the OKC area for about 14 years and never thought people in OKC disliked Tulsa. During that time and since that time I have been to Tulsa many times and regularly hear people complain about OKC.

I do think people in Tulsa have a legitimate beef that virtually every major highway leaving the city is a toll road. Outside of that, I think most of their complaints are pretty silly.

Well, I've lived in Tulsa nearly my entire life, and have had business dealings in OKC on plenty of occasions. Trust me, OKC people dislike Tulsa every bit as much as it is the other way around.

I know plenty about both cities, and about the only thing I would enjoy more about living in OKC is the proximity to Norman.

I've been away a long time (visits aside), and there was a certainly sense of friendly rivalry when I was there, but I wondered if it had grown more heated since I left.

Those commenters (admittedly a tiny sampling) seemed very bitter and envious of OKC, something Tulsans never admitted to back in my day. Back then, if anything, Tulsans tended to overrate their city's standing nationally and even internationally, as if it might be mentioned in the same breath as some of the world's cultural capitals -- NYC, London Paris, Tulsa.

if we are going to have a civil conversation about this, i would say it is an interesting subject. When Tulsa became an Oil Boom City, many people outside of the state of Oklahoma came here and moved into Tulsa. My mother's family was one of them, my grandfather was a mechanical engineer for Dow Oil (now Dow Chemical) and has been their for 60 years. When my mom went to OU, she always said she never knew what an Okie really was until she was at OU and spent time with kids from around the state and time spent in Oklahoma City. She has always been quick to put down OKC and point out the differences between OKC and Tulsa. As for me i enjoy living in OKC for the most part for the past 15 years.

I live in OKC. I love visiting Tulsa. Seems like Tulsa gets the better concerts. I will say as for things to do. I like OKC better.

Even as far back as the time I went to OU (long time ago) I can remember the Tulsa people starting arguments, trying to convince everyone that it was superior to OKC; and never heard the opposite.

No dog in the fight (raised in Lawton, live in Norman, love both OKC and Tulsa) but I've only heard about stuff coming from Tulsa people not the other way around. I understand OKC USED to be that way about Tulsa but I haven't heard anything like that in the 15 years I've lived here in Norman. Pretty one sided deal from my perspective. Again I'm as neutral as I can be and enjoy visiting both cities. Regardless of who feels what, I think it's pretty ridiculous.
