On another board, it’s rumored that they want to interview Kruger & Barnes from Tenn, but Barnes has a huge buyout. Anyone know anything more on this? Love what he’s done to fix the OU program, but I would not be sad if UCLA took Lon.

Just mentioned this in another thread... This would be best case scenario. Hire Mike Anderson immediately.

I don't think Anderson and Joe C. would mesh very well.

Plus, he doesn't recruit any better than LK.

Offer Chris beard whatever he wants, if that happens.

I just don’t see Lon taking another job. I believe this is his last before retirement.

Also, what the hell is going on at UCLA? What a train wreck.

This is actually vintage Lon... take over a train wreck, get them back to "pretty good", then move on again.

There are good coaches available to OU this year.

OU is a unique program. It doesn't need some high profile coach. It needs a guy who can win at OU. It doesn't need some hot shot assistant. It needs a guy who can recruit the region effectively, who runs a system, who plays tough basketball, etc.

I honestly believe Doc Sadler would win at OU... I know for darn sure Mike Anderson would.

To me... its not about the name. Its about a guy who fits at OU.

I get that’s Lons MO, but he’ll be 67 when the season starts. I guess I thought this would be his last stop before retirement.

What is UCLA thinking?

Its really funny that you guys think OU is too good for Mike Anderson. OU has the worst record in the Big 12 during Lon's tenure. Anderson has never had a losing season in 17 years as a head coach.

He knows the area... he recruits it... He has a system... He played under Nolan Richardson at the University of Tulsa. He isn't some assistant with no experience.

He brought Mizzou back from the dead... his biggest mistake was going to Arkansas after doing so well at Mizzou. He couldn't help it though, he tried to rekindle the Nolan magic.

OU isn't going to be great with some up-and-coming assistant. They need someone who fits at OU.

Doc Sadler is a good coach but he has ONE NCAA Tournament appearance as a head coach plus he's close to 60.

I get that he's never been at a school with decent resources but he would be a stretch for me.

Anderson would recruit to a system for sure and OU does need that but I just don't see OU going down that road.

Anderson’s clubs have led the nation in steals four times and have been in the top 10 in steals nine of 15 years, while finishing in the top 30 in scoring eight times. Since 2002-03, Anderson’s teams have accounted for five of the 29 team totals around the country of 350-plus steals in a season, while he has won the turnover battle in 401 of 500 career games.

One of just four current Division I head coaches with 15-plus years of experience and zero losing seasons, Anderson’s 16 years at the helm of a program have resulted in a 351-184 record, 11 20-win campaigns, nine NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 berths and a run to the 2009 Elite Eight...

The guy has never coached at a steady program like OU... Only troubled situations.

Give him Harmon, Doolittle, Manek, Williams, Reaves, Bienemy, etc and watch him go..

Does Lon interviewing for the job, as the LA Times has reported, tell us anything about his situation at OU?

If Lon ends up at UCLA..I will say thanks and good luck

not really sure, pros for UCLA is Lon is under contract till 2021 i believe sothe buyout would not be terrible and Lon has had a knack for quick rebuilds, the negative is Lon will turn 67, how much longer does he want to coach? But i would not blame him for listening to UCLA it is and can again be one of the better jobs in college basketball

OU has made the tournament 7 out of 8 years & is just yrs removed from the final 4. Arkansas hasn't made even the sweet 16 in 23 years and obviously never made it under Anderson. Anderson would be a huge step down for OU.

It's amazing that you keep crapping on the OU program and continue to insist that every other program in college basketball is better than OU's. Quite simply, there is no way that OU can't do better than Mike Anderson.

Honestly, Chris Crutchfield is a better candidate than Anderson and it's not close.
