UCLA/Kruger rumor.

Give him Harmon, Doolittle, Manek, Williams, Reaves, Bienemy, etc and watch him go..

I remember how I was looking forward to watching Scottie Reynolds, Damien James and Jeremy Mayfield in the 2006-2007 season after they signed with Kelvin. So I'm not going to get my hopes up that all of the current signed class would actually make it to Norman if Lon were to leave.

I’d take Mike Anderson in a second. My favorite coach is Bruce Pearl but don’t think Joe C would touch him.
Would the serial killer from Wichita State be a fit?

OU has made the tournament 7 out of 8 years & is just yrs removed from the final 4. Arkansas hasn't made even the sweet 16 in 23 years and obviously never made it under Anderson. Anderson would be a huge step down for OU.

It's amazing that you keep crapping on the OU program and continue to insist that every other program in college basketball is better than OU's. Quite simply, there is no way that OU can't do better than Mike Anderson.

Honestly, Chris Crutchfield is a better candidate than Anderson and it's not close.

It's about the fit. Anderson fits.

This would not be good timing for us. Buzz, Hoiberg, Sampson, and many others have already signed. I believe Matta is still available. I would rather keep Lon than bring in Anderson.

If OKC doesn’t make it out of the 1st round again, maybe OU can make a run at Billy Donovan!

At this point in their careers, Mike Anderson is a much better fit for OU than Lon.

I wonder who the realistic candidates would be.

OU wouldn’t pay enough to lure Chris beard or any big name, not to mention the lack of support for OU basketball that would prevent such a hire.

Mike Anderson has been talked about but who else?

Anderson went to the tourney three times in his eight years at Arkansas, winning just two games, and he just got himself canned. Lon went to the tourney six times in eight years. Some of you have very fluid standards. Whichever stats suit your purpose, you'll float them as if they're the final word. Nice to know that Anderson's teams excel at steals, though.

If Lon leaves, we can surely do better.

Man you all are really down on the squad next year. When I saw this I was hoping it wasn’t true. IF Lon leaves, anyone on the team can leave and probably not have to sit out. As someone excited for the next couple years with this roster, it’d be a major bummer to start over

When unsubstantiated rumors like this appear in the twitter-sphere, the usual response is:

"I wonder if Lon is floating this story to get a pay raise."

My guess is that the reports about Lon are bogus, but we will never know for sure. Just a guess.

No, not all of us. Just the usual suspects, mostly. I'm with you: I'm very excited about the team going forward and I recall all too well the exodus that occurred when Capel got hired. There's nothing on Anderson's resume that would convince our recruits to stick around, if they were inclined to reconsider their commitments.

This fits Lon's M.O. to a "T". Especially if the Bruins start throwing around stupid money. But it would have to be REALLY stupid money to combat the taxes.

Stranger things have happened.

Mike Anderson is 60 years old and just got fired after an undistinguished 8 year run at Arkansas. And you really think he's the guy to take this program to the next level?

Beard isn't coming here.

Mick Cronin was born in Cincinnati, attended Cincinnati, was an assistant coach at Cincinnati, and has been head coach at Cincinnati for 15 years. He's not coming to Oklahoma.

Gregg Marshall isn't a fit, and he's making $4 million per year. We aren't paying a coach twice what we were paying Lon.

Go get a young up and coming coach. Whether that's a head coach at a smaller school or an assistant at a top program.
