I have seen Washington play twice. Their bigs, well, are really big. The 7 footer, Robert Upshaw, is an intimidating, shot-blocking force inside. He's also prone to foul trouble. Our players will have to go at him hard in trying to score inside. Try to keep him from blocking the shot by being timid and our players will be playing right into his hands.
Shawn Kemp, Jr. (yes, the Shawn Kemp's little boy) is 6' 9" 255. He may be the best post player on the team. They also have two other bigs who are in the 6' 10" to 7' range. So, like I said, the Huskies are big.
OU should have the advantage in the backcourt. UW's Nigel Williams-Goss (as I recall, a player OU recruited) is their best guard, and the team's leading scorer. Point guard, Andrew Andrews, the second leading scorer on the team, is good too. But I wasn't particularly impressed with UW's guard play.
If the two games I watched are any indication, the team as a whole is surprisingly undisciplined for a Lorenzo Romar coached team. It was like watching a pick up game at the local rec center at times. Don't get me wrong, this is a team that could beat OU. They have good athletes and solid players at nearly every position. But if our kids play good defense, shoot a decent percentage from three, block out on the boards and don't let UW's size intimidate them, the Sooners will win.
