Most corporations have a hiring process. with some people there is no win situation. if they hired him a month after OT stepped down.... people would be saying they rushed it. some going to be happy and some going to be not so happy.

No knowledge, but a few guesses would be Capel tried to hire somebody from outside the University and nobody wanted it based on current basketball situation, or Joe C wasn't sure if Capel would be retained so he made Capel hold off on any promotion or hiring announcements.

Capel said early on that he wasn't going to be in a hurry to fill those positions.

if I were coach I wouldnt be in any damn hurry to fill those spots either. His trust was misplaced before and he got burned....tends to make one more than a bit gunshy.

Seems like the last couple of months have been pretty busy. But I'm sure that it is probably that no "real" coach wanted to come to an Oklahoma program that is headed towards the death penalty so we got turned down by everybody.

If Baylor didn't get the Death Penalty for trying to cover up a murder, then OU will not get the death penalty over $3,000. Now as far as to why it took this long, he are my thoughts:

A. Capel Said it would be mid June before he made any hires
B. Joe C. had to decide if he was keeping Jeff or not
C. No outsiders wanted the job
D. Capel had to make sure he could trust who ever he hired

These are just my guesses, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was multiple factors involved

He was trying to get the timing just right so that message board posters wouldn't spin it in a negative light. Evidently, he failed.

I was just kidding. I think that he probably looked at several candidates and decided that these were the guys he wanted. Whether the pool of candidates was piss-poor because of problems at OU I have no clue.

LOL...I'm sure he "looked" at several candidates, the question is if any of those candidates "looked" back. Based on the promotion of Dionne Phelps, I'd say the answer to that question is a resounding NO.

:facepalm

I find it hard to believe that "Nobody" wanted these positions. I think that are both good. They all do what Capel wants Assistants voice is only heard so much.

Capel could have hired Phil Jackson to fill one of the spots and there are a few on here that would make an issue of it.

It is state law that state jobs need posted for a certain amount of time before they're filled.

Capel could have hired Sean Sutton and a few on here would have thought it was the best decision ever.

Can we hire a JUCO coach to be an assistant? That would obviously delight some of our posters who idolize all things JUCO.

And I'd say that's exactly what I expected you to say.
