If proximity to alumni is a factor, there are more MU graduates living in SEC states than Big 12 states.
Missouri's 20+ year focus on the Big 10 wasn't about respect. That never had anything to do with it. The move to the SEC is purely about stability. Respect only mattered as much as it matters in any functional family, and the Big 12 is decidedly dysfunctional.
Brady Deaton tried harder than anyone to save the Big 12. It didn't work. The problems that drove four teams away and make it attractive only to teams with no where else to go persist.
Boren wanted Louisville. Most of the remaining Big 12 wanted to get back to 12. But UT didn't in either case. They ultimately made the call. If that's the conference you want to be in, have fun while it lasts.
Yes. Anyone who thinks the Big 12 WAC is a stable conference is either naive or stupid.
OU's fate rest in the hands of DeLoss Dodd. Whatever DeLoss wants, DeLoss gets. The sad part about it is most OU fans don't give a ra. It may take a few years but OU will regret the day they hitched their wagon to Texas.
Boren screwed up last year when he actually had some leverage over the PAC 12 before they signed their new contract. When the PAC 12 was no longer a viable option OU could have gone to the SEC. All of the nonsense Boren spewed out about academics was nothing but rubbish. Where is WVU academically rated? 164/169? I think they are tied with Louisville. It looks like the Big East is ready to take the Big 12 WAC and WVU to court. From what I'm hearing, they may have a strong case.
