14-17

Cool. Judging by your passion and disdain for the current program (which I don't totally fault you), find it peculiar you were able to hold it in for so long. Especially after those awesome showings against Chaminade and Virginia.

I post on several other boards, honestly, it was kind of nice to read over here and not have the ability to jump right in and start posting everytime I read something I disagreed with. As you can tell, there is quite a bit I don't agree with.

But yea, I gave in as I wanted to post here b/c this is where the passionate fans are at.

It took you that long?
Yeah, I know. I thought after the Kentucky moral victory that we'd be pretty good come conference time. Then Chaminade. We started out OK in conference and I thought we'd be okay, but this team is just really bad. Not bad players, IMO... but they don't know how to use their strengths.

No OU team under Capel has ever overachieved.

I thought this team would make the NIT at the beginning of the season. Once we started playing in conference I found out how wrong I was.

I'd say your expectations were too high BEFORE you saw them play and definitely after...it's hard to blame the team for your unreasonable expectations. The team was too inexperienced AND limited in ability. If you took this team NOW and went back to the beginning, they'd probably win 2-4 more games (maybe) just due to experience.

Thought we competed well against UK, but lost in all the "moral victory" hoorah was the fact UK started three true freshman early in their first season, takes them time as well.

Why would they be too high? The Big 12 was supposed to be (and is) mediocre, we all thought that Cam Clark would be a bigger impact than he was, we thought Pledge would have done something, and we were hailing the arrival of Capel's first true PG that he could mentor. We heard tales of great workouts and of Fitz losing 80 brazillian pounds. We got stories about how the team was dedicated and practicing hard. We saw the first few games where the kids really played together if not a bit sloppily.

I guess we all should have expected them to not improve and the coaches to be unable to get any growth out of the players, right?

I told you why. I thought they, although a long-shot, had a chance to make the NIT...I certainly didn't EXPECT them to make. Of course, I've watched the Big XII/Big 8 all my life and have RARELY seen a team as young/inexperienced make any kind of noise.

Big XII down?? I certainly think it is now, but I don't think many people thought it would be down before the season.

I am so confused as to what your opinion on the situation is. At times you seem to be in the Capel must go camp and at other times you say things like this.

there's nothing confusing about it. I think the team is better and I don't think Capel is an awful coach - but I think his style overall isn't suited for what our school can and will support and, thus, we need a new coach.

I don't see how anyone could have seriously judged this team before the season started. We had what, at least 7 players taht we have never seen before?

Once we saw them and a few games i think it was pretty evident by most reasonable people that we wouldn't make the post season and that it would be a good season IF we matched last years win total and showed improvement.

Are you really giving me a hard time because I expected a hard working OU team to make the NIT? Especially since you thought they could make it as well? I mean in the long run we're talking a couple wins difference here.

Sure, whatever, I was too optimistic to think that we could make the postseason and you were right in thinking that we would suck and be an embarrassment. Do you feel better? :D

I'm basing this on the first few games I saw. We looked raw, but I thought a weak Big 12 would give us a real shot if the team came together. I regret nothing. :D

This ain't your grandpa's NIT any more. It's not quite as easy to get into it as it was before. I took that into consideration. I thought we might be .500 if everything went right.

This team is and was never an embarrassment to me...they worked their tails off and never quit...
