2019 Recruiting

Better get a bunch of quality players. The roster is very slim after this year. I have my doubts about Kruger being able to fill it with Big 12-level players. Especially since many will be called on to contribute fairly early.

Feel free to flame away.

Got to scroll to the bottom, gives quite a few names OU is in on at the moment.

Good find, BC! I know people want to see specific players already committed so they can feel like there are sure things on board, but more often than not, kids wait till after they have started their senior year to make a decision. Obviously we won't land all/most of these guys, but being in the mix on several is a good sign. As the blog points out, with Harmon and Reaves already in the mix, it will only take a couple more good players to turn the '19 class into a very good one.

Right or wrong, I have not been shy about my criticism of this coaching staff and their post final four recruiting accomplishments. I see the 2019 class as their opportunity to prove me wrong.

They got off to a great start with De’Vion Harmon. He’s the real deal. So is Austin Reaves. Adding Williamson would more than make up for losing Jalen Wilson. He outplayed Wilson in a head to head match up I watched online.

This class is loaded with talent. The question is, can our coaching staff sign the right pieces to a LOI and restore my confidence in what I believe to be (potentially) another final four class? I choose to remain optimistic.

Is OU actually targeting them or is this your suggestions?

Harmon is a home run, for sure... I like your post here, and it will be interesting to see who they can sign in the early period. If the team stinks people will start to freak out.. As you mentioned, it's been kinda bad by OU's standard the past few years since the Final Four, and we live in a "what have you done for me lately" society.

If they don't sign any of these top HS guys in the early (and I think they should if they can), and the team isn't very good, will be interesting to see where they go from there in the ultra competitive late signing period.

They landed Harmon, and he may be the guy that attracts other top tier recruits.

+1

No reason they shouldn't be able to.

Hoping for 3-4 hs recruits,1 JUCO, 1 grad transfer, 1 regular transfer. If 3 HS then go JUCO or transfer, if 4 lose one.

Couple thoughts, he's the 182 composite ranked player in the country. Next thought, The NBA is in good hands if Chase Hunter is a mid 150-200 type player in the country for the 2019 season.

I was hoping we could land a combo guard that is game ready from day one. Hunters game looks college ready right now. This kid can flat get it done on the court. He'd be a big get IMO. No way he stays at his current ranking by years end. Seal the deal Lon.

All of these offers so late. Not sure if that means they are not feeling good about their primary targets. Call me negative if you want; this stuff happens in football recruiting all the time.

Also July recruiting period is very busy. Some guys may have made enough improvements to earn an offer. Plus both are combo guards I believe which is a need that the haven't offered that I know of. Remember this class can take 6 guys.

Or they are extending more offers to put more pressure on guys they have offered already. Also happens all the time.

I think all of these guys are playing at the Peach Jam which OU coaches are at watching. Coaches must be liking what they see.
