2019 Recruiting

OU needs to get the coach from LSU (or someone of that ilk). He literally has them in on 20 top 100 kids. OU isn't in on 10, legitimately, at least. Just sickens me that OU hasa coach who can't recruit with the best of them. He gets a kid from Norman and a lifelong OU fan as 5 stars. I hope he proves me wrong this year, but I am not going to hold my breath.

I love your posts. Consistently some of the funniest on this board, even though that isn't your intent. Next I'm sure you'll identify some AAU coach OU should hire because he is better at recruiting than Kruger. Also, I wonder -- in a few years, will LSU be hanging banners in their gym to celebrate "being in on 20 top 100 kids?" If so, how do those banners compare to the Final Four banner that Lon helped us hang two years ago? One more question -- was Buddy the kid from Norman or the lifelong OU fan? Oh, wait, you mean you didn't include him even though Lon beat Bill Self for him? But again, keep the comedy coming and always throw in your usual "I hope I'm wrong" disclaimer so you can save face if the team does well.

Lon is one of the best at finding hidden gems and zeroes in on guys that he has a legit shot to get. If you want OU to recruit like LSU be sure you're ready for sanctions.

Also LSU has recruited tons of talent but have done nothing, the best part of their season is the recruiting part.

Hence why I said "like". I know there is something fishy about that place (literally). but OU should be able to get 2-3 top 100 kids a year. Just my opinion. OU can sign like, 7 players this coming recruiting class. If 5 cannot come in immediately and somewhat contribute, 2019-2020 could be the worst year in 2 decades at OU.

Of the 8 high school recruits on the team: 5 were top 150, 2 were overseas, and the other was McNeace.

I am bewildered by some of the players lack of development after watching Buddy, Isaiah, & Spangler. Really makes me just think some of these guys don't work hard on their own.

You're correct. Lon is a great coach. He recently took OU to a Final 4. There is literally tons of opportunity at OU next year. He should sign a banner class. Really, no excuse not to.

Polla/Kuath/Doolittle/Manek

Harmon/Bienemy/Reaves

OU should already have a pretty solid team... its just hole plugging time now.

5 scholarships left.

Slasher
Shooter
Shooter
Rebounder/Post Defender
Rebounder/Post Defender

Of course that assumes Polla and Kuath are contributors.

PG: Devion Harmon/New Recruit
SG: Jamal Bienemy/New Recruit
SG: Austin Reaves/New Recruit
PF: Brady Manek/Kristian Doolittle
C: Hannes Polla/Kur Kuath

Seems fine to me.

This happens most places, even the blue bloods. KU has a player or two on their roster any given year who fails to ever come close to what was expected, same with Duke, etc. Look at our football team over the past few years -- guys who came in as highly rated recruits end up hardly seeing the field, transfer, and barely make an impact when they transfer. I agree with the general point, though, that the past couple years seem to have had more of these guys than usual. Lattin never made the strides he could/should have made, James has been up and down, and Kam obviously had a very disappointing season. Doo needs to have a good season to show that last year was a fluke.

I also think that Buddy and Isaiah spoiled us to a degree. Kruger has said numerous times they are the two hardest workers he has ever seen, and they obviously improved far more than what typical players do. They may not be stars, but I'd like to see Calixte and Reynolds set a great example for the younger players this season. Both those guys have all kinds of incentive to make it to the tourney for the first time, and hopefully they practice and play that way and it rubs off on everyone else.

I agree Buddy & Cousins were different but even Spangler, Woodard, McNeace, All showed significant improvements. Some guys grow minimally over 4 years (not specifically OU players) and that baffles me.

2-3 top 100 kids each year?

5 immediate impact guys?

LSU couldn’t get to the tournament with Ben Simmons!

No real new info but the last minute is great. If he has some talent around him I believe this kid might end up being the best pg in OU history.

Some might say the best in OU history is a tall order. I’m not one of them. Da’Vion won me over when he stayed the course with OU through the last eighteen or so months, proving he’s not going to back down from a challenge. He plays the same way. He’s also know to be an outstanding on the ball defender. Surround him with the right combination of shooters and scorers who will sellout on defense, and we may forget our problems of the last two seasons.

Da’vion Harmon is a great start to our 2019 class, that’s for sure!

“The day Oklahoma offered me changed my life.” Welp, I am sold. 100% behind this young man. I love that attitude and obvious commitment to our school. :OU-logo:
