Looked like the kid ran him over going to celebrate. Ol punchable face wasn’t happy.

Yep, the player did run into the coach rather strongly in his excitement over the play just before the timeout.

bah. we dont need mcneace and lattin to score. we need them to rebound and make a difference defensively. we have enough scoring elsewhere.

Nor do we need for Lattin to continue to miss the point blank shots he regularly misses. Such failure will probably cost us a win this year. McNease is finishing at a 10% better rate than is Lattin.

But he only took four shots (and he hit his first one, but got called for a travel); to read the uproar in this thread, you'd think he went 0-for-12. It's as though some need something to be unhappy about, even after one of our biggest wins of the season.

With Trae at the helm players are being put in situations they are not familiar with and Lattin is one of them. They obviously see it in practice and coaches also see positive results with it or they would likely not continue to try those plays during the course of the game.

I think it has to do with an engine with a missing cylinder is an engine which runs poorly and each cylinder has to hold its own or the efficiency of the engine lags. That's all people are pointing out. Should fans be glad that they have something to complain about? You don't think the coaching staff wants greater efficiency from all players, but fans are just not allowed the same request? That would be similar to saying food critiques deserve better food than everyone else. The data you supplied shows how little scoring comes from the inside when the competition was Arkansas, USC and Wichita State, which are likely the 3 best teams played as of yet. Every team and I mean every team has goals and for this team to progress then one aspect of their team which needs improving is a more effective inside game. Doesn't necessarily mean they are supposed to carry the rest of the team, but just to be more efficient.

no offense but I dont buy that one bit. if a game was decided by Lattin's failure to put back a bunny then there was much more that went into the loss than Lattin's shooting failures. this engine does not go based on put-backs in the paint. those are nothing but bonus points.

Here are my takeaways from being at the game.

I think many people on this thread are not giving our D enough credit. We played well on D for several stretches. WSU defense was hot garbage. We had open shot after open shot (even in the 2nd half). Coach Kruger just milked the clock which took a lot of our aggression away in the 2nd. Big win in a somewhat hostile environment. Their crowd was defeated most of the game.

Speaking of the crowd, WSU has some good fans, but also some grade A idiots. They mirror their coach who appears to be a real jerk. SOOOOOO glad we have a coach like Lon Kruger!

Of course there's always room for improvement with any team, and I want Sooner coaches and players to always work hard in pursuit of that growth and improvement.

But the posts about Lattin in this thread were not mere acknowledgements of
areas in which we could improve, as you suggest. They were mini-meltdowns, excoriating one of our players as if he were singlehandedly losing the game for us, which he obviously was not.

What is being pointed out are the feed passes made inside which end up amounting to nothing, for the most part, and not unplanned put backs. These are two separate aspects of the game and not one.

I agree with our defense being good today......WSU was not getting good shots most of the game. When the game was almost over, there were times WSU had to run 15 seconds before they could get any shot.
As opposed to our offense.....for the most part, we got the shots we wanted, just didn't finish or make them. And milking the shot the last six minutes was the thing to do.....we won.

And our players need to finish.....TY can get them good shots; he can't will them into making the bunnies.

And Marshall said in his post-game interview that he got mad at one of his players who run over him during a timeout. Marshall had shoulder surgery 16 weeks ago and was hurt when the guy run him over.....:ez-laugh:

All of us should know by now that you can’t look at a game thread after-the-fact and expect it to be all positive, no matter what the outcome is. People are watching these games and posting simultaneously...we simply get caught up in the moment. While that doesn’t excuse us for making inflammatory comments, it does account for the fact we’re both human and passionate about our Sooners. Yesterday, Khadeem just couldn’t have played any worse. That’s where most of the frustration was for all of us. If I posted what I was yelling at the TV, I would have had to ban myself. However, I also posted that I am still confident in Khadeem and believe he will be a huge contributor down the stretch.
