'25 Coaching Carousel Thread

So UT can make a move that OU won't. OU is stagnant and stale, and will never increase NIL with Moser here. We need some younger blood in here to get the fanbase excited again.

moser is a better coach then terry ... but that is not a high standard
Yeah, Terry was moderately successful at Fresno State as HC for a few years before moving on to UTEP and then stepping back into the assistant role for Beard. It was always a job over his head but by all accounts, he's a player's coach so they tried to make it work. He wasn't awful, but with the resources that Texas has, it should be much better on avg.

Terry being let go was obvious without a tourney run. That roster was really good, Terry held them back for sure.
Held them back in coaching and (apparently) recruiting...excerpt from a 247 article about Terry being let go:
"Terry is a beloved figure in Longhorns hoops circles after being an assistant to Rick Barnes during the TJ Ford-led run to the 2003 Final Four and during Kevin Durant's Naismith Player of the Year season in 2007.

But under Terry's leadership the program wasn't trending in the right direction, including a 2025 recruiting class ranked No. 74 with one signee when you're losing seven of your top 10 players from this season."

Moser to Longwood.

But seriously, it sounds like Longwood's HC, Griff Aldrich, is heading to Virginia to be their GM. Per the Trilly 'cord and whatnot, of course. Griff has lots of money. It makes sense.

Speaking of GMs, I was DMed (on X) about OU getting a GM. Apparently it was said on Scoop's pod? I sincerely don't listen. Scoop talks to Joe Jr, obviously.

If I had to guess, right now, we're stuck with Moser, for better or worse, and OU will have a GM (THEY SHOULD HAVE A GM NOW!!!!!!!!!!). I don't see a job that makes sense right now....maybe Texas hires someone that'll set off dominoes? The perfect level for Porter is Drake, Charleston, somewhere in the MVC, or Horizon. But monetarily, not really ideal.

If you are going to hire a GM, you need one heading into the portal season, IMO. Although I guess they could have a prospective GM lined up and he could tamper this portal season while not being a university employee.
I would argue he/she should have been hired a month or two ago. Portal opened up around tournament time, we are behind the 8-ball already.
