'25 Coaching Carousel Thread

It is almost like, we as laymen fans, had a pretty good list of coaches out there lol

Well done board.
I will also add I just read the following about Hodge and could you imagine if OU had hired a guy with this on his record the last two years how the fan base would react:

"In two years on the job at North Texas, Hodge went 0-10 versus NCAA Tournament teams and 0-2 versus AP Top 25 opponents."

Again, we all know about the job Moser has or hasn't done the last 4 years but to replace someone just to replace them isn't always the best idea. Obviously, this is just about Hodge and not that he would have been the replacement but most out there in the coaching world have their own issues.

I am already ready to fire Hodge, let me know when to start posting about it.

In all seriousness, we are looking at 2 years of HC in D-I versus 17 years. I would be interested in seeing Moser's 17 years record against tournament teams or at least prior to that Final 4 magic years of Krutwig.

Hodge would be a potential gamble hire vs an experienced "what have you done for me lately" hire.

I do see your point though.

There are pros and cons to every coach. Some of his pros on the other hand:
  • 67% win percentage in conference and overall record at North Texas (24-12 and 46-23 respectively)
  • 86% win percentage as HC at the JUCO level (146-24)
  • 102 & 119 finishes in Kenpom Off and 52 & 42 finishes in Kenpom Def at UNT (at a mid major that is very impressive)
  • Back to back NITs including an NIT Final Four this year (still yet to be finished)

Also, PM went 2-11 against the field last year . . . as P4 coach with a roster including Oweh, Uzan, Soares, and Moore. That's more damning than 0-10 at North Texas, especially since I bet all/most of those 10 games were on the road.

I agree with Big Cat

Yeah, Willard has honestly been pissing me off. Dude is basically begging and saying he doesn’t have enough NIL money, so he forces the his AD to leave because I guess he didn’t like him or something. I mean only reason guy made the sweet 16 this year is because Derik Queen who only went to Maryland to be closer to home. Man if I was either teams I don’t know if I would want him as my head coach after all this nonsense. There is ways to handle things professionally, and imo he has been very unprofessional in how he has handled it.

I think most of us don’t want him fired for the sake of being fired…. We actually want a better coach or at least one that has shown some potential with maybe not as many yrs of “experience”.

Maybe a requirement is they want a local guy that knows the area, Willard spend 12 years @ Seton Hall. But all this drama for a guy that finished 16-17 last year for a program with as much resources built in for basketball as Villanova is something. Hell just go get Bobby Hurley, I'm sure he'd fit in a lot better there then on the west coast.

willard had NOTHING To do with the AD leaving ..

do i need to go back and dig up old posts to see what you were saying about them last season?
especially oweh ...during conference season....
I said that they both regressed badly under Porter Moser. And I also predicted both would succeed under better coaches once they left.

I’d go back and dig up some of your posts but I don’t remember you ever saying anything of substance.

Apparently Willard missed the Sweet 16 team dinner...he gone

Calendar is what it is but such a shitty thing to do haha, reminds me of the Tuberville exit from Tech.

Maryland is a top 25 job? BIG, decent recruiting center, solid history?
