'25 Coaching Carousel Thread

About time.

Ben McCollum? Darian DeVries?

Carousel about to take off, finally.

Wade just might get the NCST job. It's a great fit but I wanted to hold out hope (for OU) a little longer, even if it was false hope. :)
Yea sadly we will be spectators as other teams hire another batch of good coaches we could have easily hired last year.

You guys notice there are reports, like with Wade, where the coaches are negotiating NIL budgets. We all thought that would happen. Just made sense that a coach (other than one desperate for a job) would refuse to take any job without an NIL budget that would allow him to be competitive. You have to wonder how what effect this will have on "firing" decisions. No longer going to be just a cost issue related to the coaching salary and budget on assistants/support staff, but now on the NIL budget. Changing coaches is going to become a lot more expensive, particularly where there are buyouts also involved.

Why not get a really good high school head coach for probably just a couple hundred thousand dollars and put the 4-5 million saved on coaches into NIL budget.

Have people lost their collective minds? A high school coach? I guess some of the people who defend Moser are so determined to think that coaching is meaningless and everything is NIL, so sure, maybe just hire a dad from the local Y team.

I mean, come on people. There is arguably no sport where coaching matters more than college hoops.

Joe C will undoubtedly give Moser another extension after this year. 1,000,000%

Football coaching matters way more than basketball imo. Football you have to call a play every down for both sides of the ball. Basketball you can just have really good players who can play iso/pick and roll all game.

Someone needs to tell the Thunder organization that if they will fund the NIL we will bring in whatever prospects they want to be able to watch 20 times a year 20 mins away from OKC.

Most are too young to remember high school coaches in football who were disasters going straight to a college job, Jerry Faust to Notre Dame, Chuck Mather to Kansas.
Todd Dodge is another and more recent. 4 Texas 5A State championships; 3 6A championships. 125-46 all time HS.

Got the North Texas HC job after 3 straight HS championships at South lake Carroll and went 6-37 at UNT.

Went back to HS where he was again dominant.
