What job is he going to get? Is hillbilly done at the junior high in Stillwater?

Dayton just gave him an extension through the 2018-19 season. Is he a candidate for the OSU job?

My guess is Ford's job will be secure for one more season. But if the right Poke supporters want him gone, regardless, I doubt if buying out a coach like Miller will get in their way.

If OSU fires Ford they should go directly to Danny Manning at TU.

Nah. Manning hasn't proven himself enough. A couple of good months at Tulsa doesn't equate to landing the head job at osu.

I could honestly see Archie pulling the Shaka Smart and turning down all the major-conference offers he can get for as long as he wants. Dayton is already reputable in the MAC and with the raised profile of a deep tourney run, he could turn that sucker into the next Butler. Sean stayed at Xavier for a few seasons after he hit the "power school" radar, too. That family is not dumb. They pick their spots.

That said, it would probably take OSU committing a king's ransom to bring him down. Holder will not do that because he just committed a king's ransom to Ford like three years ago and will still probably pay a massive buyout just to get him gone. Unless Boone Pickens and Eddie Sutton pool a "Save the Program" fund, the next OSU hire will be a guy with a sneaky resume but probably not a lot of bargaining leverage.

Or they could just yell "SCREW IT" and overpay for the Ben Howland Experience. Which honestly might not end so badly for them.

I was kind of surprised when I saw that Shaka Smart turned down Marquette. I guess he's the next Brad Stevens.

Agree, though the Big East now isn't exactly the same league that Marquette entered in 2006.

I think Smart will wait until he gets offered an opening where he won't be dealing with a ton of roster losses, and has a shot at winning the conference outright his first year. He seems WAY serious about playing winning basketball and the compensation is sort of a secondary perk. He denied Washington State in 2011, after all.
