Assessing the current roster situation at OU (4/24/2021)

Re: Assessing the current roster situation at OU

Kuath was inconsistent, but he improved from year to year and when he was on, he made some spectacular plays. I totally get why he chose not to, but man, I wish he'd decided to return for next season. I'd love to see what he might have done with that much more experience under his belt (and who knows, perhaps Coach Moser and his staff would have gotten even more out of him).

Re: Assessing the current roster situation at OU (4/8/2021)

He was praised but mid season he decided being late and not taking care of responsibilities was fine. He was in the doghouse for awhile. He is a freak athletically. For unknown reasons he couldn’t convert next to the rim.

Kuath is a good example of why Bobby Knight (I believe it was him) didn't allow dunking in practice... You had to develop the ability to finish without the dunk.

I believe vbdad was referring to Iwuakor, not Kuath.

Re: Assessing the current roster situation at OU

interesting...I just watched the special on him and the kid he choked...Reid? That kid passed away in 2016 at 36 massive heart attack. As much as I "respected" knight for graduating kids and things like this rule (if it was him) he really became an ass. Maybe the admin screwed him over, but choking a kid is bull****.

Bobby considered it, "a teaching moment". :ez-laugh:

Re: Assessing the current roster situation at OU

Respectfully disagree. It was a huge dropoff from Manek to him and Manek was a disaster on the defensive end. Kuath, IMO, was the best of the 3 at the 5 position but Manek got more of the PT. Iwuakor was a huge liability IMO.

Kk didn’t play enough for me. OU was markedly better late in the year when played. Manek and he should have played more together

Knight was the only person who could hold this board’s namesake under double digits!

That’s a great principle. You should have to earn it in the game and not rely solely on dunking. Plus, it makes the player want it more, or at least it should. Knight was an asshole and became worse as he got older, but he was a dang good coach.

Can someone in the know update what is going on? Today Harmon and Williams entered the portal. I heard Moser say Harmon would be back, so what is going on? Is Issanza coming back? He's the only post player on the roster. Jalen Hill is a guard/wing before anyone says he can play the post.

I have no inside info, but it's possible Harmon is just continuing to check all of his options by entering the portal, that him doing so doesn't necessarily mean he won't still return to OU, but it definitely allows our competition for him put the full-court press on him.

Jalen Hill is not a guard. He's WAY more of a stretch 4 than a guard.

There has been some talk that Moser misunderstood Harmon when he said he would be coming back to Norman. Harmon’s Dad clarified that didn’t mean he was going to be attending ou necessarily but just that Harmon would be back in Norman. Moser has been in constant communication with them, though, and he is keeping all options open. Think we all got ahead of ourselves with expecting Harmon to be back.

Goodness, that makes Moser look like a fool.

Re: Assessing the current roster situation at OU

Whatever you want to call him, he's not a low post player at all.

How many teams trot out a 4 that is a true low post player? Baylor just won a NC basically playing 4 guards and a big. Hill is more of a 4 in today's game than anything else. I don't see him playing the 3. He needs to be a 4, starting next to a true big man. If he can't play the 4, he probably can't play.

Harkless is a great 3 in today's game. Big, strong guard who is "good enough" from the outside. We're in trouble if Hill is starting at the 3 spot.

Baylor has multiple NBA players, that's not a fair comparison at all. If the season started today, is Hill starting at 5? That's a huge problem.

yeah he is not ..

Anybody that believes Moser misunderstood what Harmon said to him is crazy. Them back tracking now and trying to make him seem like the one that was “confused” is garbage.

Man up, since it’s a business of course, and say you changed your mind.

The thought occurred to me which is why I referred to it as “talk”. I’ve also heard he comes from a good family. That would be so weak if they backtracked and lied about Moser misunderstanding.

Why in the world would Moser even be talking to them if it didn't involve being on OU's basketball team, regardless of where they're going to be?
