I went for the 15th straight year this year. The Big 12 website shows the tourney as being in KC through 2016. That will make 7 straight years in KC and only 5 non-KC sites in conference history (3 Dallas, 2 OKC).

There were maybe 49 other OU fans in the Sprint for our loss to ISU. ISU was probably 3rd in attendance after the Kansas schools. The Oklahoma Aggies had the 4th most fans.

When Mizzou left, there was talk of the tourney going back to some sort of rotation. I can't believe OU, osu and Tx haven't brought more pressure to bear to make this happen, especially no longer having the chip of a football title in the south. I'll be the first to admit that KC does a great job with the tournament and it is a much bigger deal there (it gets lost in Dallas and OKC is too Thunder crazy to care), but the conference should bring back some sort of rotation in the future, even if it's a rotation more friendly to KC than other cities.

I don't care how many people think it belongs in KC, or that it is better there, or draws better there. There were plenty of empty seats for most of the games.

It should rotate, simply because that is what is fair. There are so many good options, it doesn't make sense not to, especially with Missouri not even being in our conference any longer.

Agreed. Dallas or OKC make more sense geographically as a permanent site than KC anyway.

I may be wrong but I believe this is part of the contract. Wasn't the basketball tourney a trade off for rotating the football game? When they set this up they probably didn't envision losing the football game.

The basketball was a trade off for moving the football game to Dallas I believe. Now that the football game is gone, the basketball should move around.

okc was surprised and disappointed that it was kept in kc until 2016 and will bid again in 2017

I imagine it will but there's a contract in place. I'm sure someone else will get it in 2017.

Response from Joe C:

I asked: can you suggest the Big 12 basketball tourney, be some where other than KC. I suggest a rotation of some sort. Thank you.

@soonerad: good thought. However, the Big 12 already encourages interest from other sites within footprint of Conference thru bid spec.

The schools other than KU, KSU & ISU need to demand that a rotation be put in place. I know that OKC has put competitive bids in before

This will likely be a business decision...the site that can guarentee the most money to the conference will win.

Vegas would be legit...Kruger can keep his house and let all 50 OU fans that travel to the games stay there.

I'm not gonna lie, I am more willing to travel to Vegas for the Tourney than Kansas City

I live in the OKC area and love when the tourney is here, but they do it MUCH better in Kansas City. That's the bottom line.
