Bolden on Campus

ran off the best poster on the board, huh? nice.

oh well, at least we still get to read jackson's classic overreaction posts. thanks for the memories, leop.

I have been away on vacation, so this is the first time I have logged on to the board since last week. I didn't expect to come back to the news that one of our most reliable sources of information about the OU basketball program has decided not to post here anymore.

I have said more than once that "when ouleopard speaks, I listen!" He has proven to be someone who definitely has an inside track to recruiting as well as other helpful information about our program. If he decides to keep the updates he posts to himself, I see that as a huge loss for OUHoops.com.

ouleopard, I hope you will reconsider and continue to bring the info you have been known for to a group of loyal Sooner fans who are hungry for any tidbit of news you are comfortable in sharing with us. Your contribution on this board has been, and will always be, greatly appreciated!

So you're telling me we've lost this:
OU had actually quit recruiting Bolden as they thought we didn't have a chance.
However, Bolden contacted McGusty and asked why OU wasn't recruiting him. McGusty
contacted OU and the result is Bolden coming in next weekend. There are also 2 Top 50
players in the country visiting with their families unoffically next weekend. Will let you
know in a couple of days who they are.

But we'll still get lots of this:
Hammer me all you want but Spangler has become soft as baby sh!t. I don't understand what's happened with him. Literally plays zero defense...

Sign me up! :chestram2:

Wow. Lol. This continues to make me laugh. I guess this leopard guy just wants to hoard his information because someone hurt his feelers. :facepalm

Hey guys this is for all the bball guys. I've been trying to get OUleopard to post his info here but he doesn't feel there are a whole lot of bball fans on the CC. So I'm posting what he posted in our bball forum. Great info. And this guy is as legit as it gets when it comes to recruiting and team info.

Regarding Marques Bolden and some other visits:

It was me guys without any reason to deny it. That was my exact post. Have no idea what I've done to offend OUleopard and am genuinely sorry to him. I wanted to share the info to a board who is starving for bball info. And I gave OUleopard credit and also have done nothing but brag on him and ouhoops on that board. I have tried to promote this board regularly to them in hopes we could attract as many as possible. I would have never posted it if I thought it was confidential. With this being a free sight for literally anyone to read and you don't even have to have a login to read it I didn't figure it would upset anyone. I have seen NUMEROUS things relayed to that forum from ouleopards posts on here and many of them not giving credit to OU leopard. I truly am sorry for offending anyone.

Thanks for taking ownership here. That took stones. This sounds like a misunderstanding. Hopefully it can be worked out for everyone.

What is the matter with you? Seriously. Just stop. Your feelings have been duly noted.

Wow. I guess this internet stuff is serious business to some of you. Lol. I suppose I will stop lest I hurt even more feelers.

I don't really think anybody can fault Jackson here...
He took information posted on a free, public board, and as a member of a pay board, posted that information and properly attributed it, while encouraging people to come to this site for more information like it.

The dude didn't do anything wrong. It's not like he was James Hale and took that information and posted it as a scoop in a paid article. It's not like he tried to do anything surreptitious whatsoever. Dude was just excited and want to share news that was already very public.

It's like if somebody had a public Twitter account, tweeted some news, somebody else shared that news while linking to the tweet (by the way this is something that happens a million times a day in the media), and that original person said, "Wow, I just posted this on Twitter. Guess I won't tweet anything anymore."

I feel like I've landed back in Jr High here. Good grief.
It's great info no doubt. But come on. It's all free info. Stuff gets reposted all the time.
If I had inside info that might get more OU fans excited about hoops I'd be glad to have it posted wherever.
Everyone complains that we have lackluster crowds at the LNC. Yet when there's info that might perk some interested from the otherwise casual fans it's forbidden to pass it on?
Interesting indeed.

It's pretty obvious ouleopard has some kind of connection to OU, and may work in the athletic department or basketball department in some capacity. If you've had discussions about trying to get him to post elsewhere, and he didn't want to, I don't think I'd go posting it for him.

This isn't the first time we've had people close to the program post info. And every other time, the poster said that it needed to stay low key, b/c obviously the coaching staff wouldn't want some of that info getting out. That seams like common sense to me. This is a similar situation, IMO, regardless of whether ouleopard actually said that or not.

I'm not saying jackson was trying to be malicious, but all signs pointed to ouleopard not wanting the info all over the net. He rarely, if ever, started threads here either. Just kind of buried the info within threads. Gotta be smart and pick up on this stuff.

I guess, unfortunately for us, he pulled a Stone Cold and took his ball and went home! I hope he comes back! I loved his info.

Hit the nail on the head. If he didn't want it reposted, and it was clear he didn't, his wishes should have been respected, and others here should respect that as well. The idea that he's just being too sensitive or whatever doesn't respect the position he was obviously putting himself in when he posted that information. He was sacrificing something by doing it and we should appreciate and respect that, not look to take advantage of that or complain that he's not willing to sacrifice more.

I don't know what happened or what was posted, or said by other posters, BUT, the number ONE consideration all should have at the top of our list, is not to state, ridicule, erroneously post, or divulge sensitive information that would affect or influence the integrity of the program. Also, be the the kind of forum member that reflects the person which you hope others see in you, in your day to day life.

If he's posting information that is sensitive and could actually jeopardize his job or something, then I certainly understand his hesitancy and even his decision to stop sharing. No problem at all with that.

I'm just calling him out on being such a drama queen in the way he's handling this. Just step away and let it go. Don't come on here and chastise someone who clearly didn't do something out of spite or to hurt him. But, he HAD to make it clear that his precious information was now going to be withheld because not everyone was bowing down to him. If it's seriously that sensitive then just stop posting and walk away like an adult. Instead he chose to handle it like a child.

Just to kind of end the speculation that there was a conversation in which he divulged to me that he "didn't want his stuff posted" I told him he had an opportunity to have a free subscription with rivals for how good his info is and that people would enjoy it and I would help with that if he wanted. His response to me was that he didn't think people had a desire for basketball info and that it was secondary to that crowd. THAT is the conversation and it's not a situation where he said "no I really don't want to post over there. Or nah I want to keep it here because of personal reasons." Again all I was trying to do was draw interest to our board as well as this amazing program and team. So hopefully that will put to rest any speculation that there was some sort of a conversation that he didn't want me to post.

So he told you he didn't want to post his information there for whatever reason and you took it upon yourself to post it there for him anyways?
