Capel not happy >>> Norman Transcript

This thread is crazy. I think people dog TMG because he could be great, but would rather only use his ability on offense. Same thing with Willie. Tiny has gotten better, but I would have yanked him when he just fell to the floor and let the ball roll away after a knee bump. Name one other OU big man that you've ever seen do that. This team was awful and no one person deserves the blame. Its a team that needed some humility from the head coach to the players. We'll find out what kind of character these guys have soon enough.

Completely agree.

WW failed and that's why he had to carry the team. Someone has to create something and it was very clear TMG was the only person to make things happen (154 assists is not selfish). Cade and Crock have been cold shooting lately and every team we played had bigs that could handle everything Tiny, Fitz and Wright brought to the table. I am sorry you are mad but get over it and look forward to a better season next year.

Where did he carry the team?.. we lost 11 straight games, when he took over.. don't come here with that crap.. Lets do post comparisons..We got killed from the outside, not the inside..

This isn't the NBA, you don't make mid-season trades.

You yourself said a while back "you play to win the game", TMG for all his defensive lapses still gives us the best chance to win.

Exactly!

It's easy to look back on a season with 20-20 hindsight and point to what you would have done differently. The fact remains, Capel had no choice but to play TMG at the point with Willie unavailable on the bench. If Jeff had brought in Franklin, his critics would have been screaming for his head saying he "gave up on his team." T. J. seems like a fine young man. But he is not ready to play at the D-1 level yet, and he may never be.

No one is saying bench the guy for good. After he makes mistake after mistake put in say Cade, Pledger, Crocker line up as an example. Maybe with the addition of TJ Taylor we do have different line ups and can put guys on the bench that aren't playing smart.

Exactly. As DenverSooner stated last week, had Capel put TMG on the bench early in the season when playing cupcakes, by the time we got to the meat of the schedule you hope TMG understood what would happen if he didn't do as designed.

I think most fans would rather see Capel pull a kid for not following orders than to let the player continue to play however he feels. However, we are talking about fans who don't even discipline their kids (most parents don't today) so they probably wouldn't understand the discipline part of it anyway...
