Clippers summer league

He did solid but his numbers would have been way down if fouls were an issue. He did have 8 personal fouls.

Two of his points came after his sixth foul.

Your minutes go down when a person is in foul trouble. He picks up his fourth, he sits. He picks up his 5th...he sits.

Not taking away from his performance...just saying his numbers would have took a hit if he was worried about being in foul trouble.

That is very true, but even if he had only played the first half, it was a very impressive game.

You can teach a guy to not foul. The fact that he's showing these kind of offensive skills to go along with this athletic ability are going to get him a long hard look.

And I still believe he could have played himself into a first round draft guaranteed contract if he had returned to OU.

You actually are taking away from it.

He didn't score 27 points because he was fouling; the one factor didn't lead to the other. And if he was playing in a real game, he would very likely have been more careful on defense. Only one of his fouls was offensive, his seventh.

But he was playing in a summer league game and so was at no risk of fouling out. He would have approached his defense in a real game very differently.

As would Lorenzo Brown, who had 22 points and six fouls -- the difference is, 9 of his points came after his sixth foul.

Then there's DeAndre Liggins, who had six fouls but scored just six points. The lack of restrictions on fouls didn't seem to help him much.

Don't start comparing players. I made a statement. You want to defend him, fine. He played good. But he had 8 fouls in 27 minutes. Thats a foul every 3.4 minutes.

And it's a point every 1.0 minutes. Funny how that works, huh?

If M'Baye averages a point a minute, even if he's foul-prone (no reason to think he will be), I think the Clippers will be very happy with him.

They allow 10 fouls in summer league. I would argue a smart player uses them up. It's not like M'Baye doesn't know the rules. To consider him using 80% of his allowable fouls as a negative is laughable.

Exactly. People play differently on defense when they know they are in foul trouble. They will give up the lay-up instead of trying to contest. It's not his fault he had 10 fouls. I guarantee if this was a NBA game with a 6 foul limit, he plays differently on defense after he picks up the first 2.

I am really excited for him!!!

Thanks for that clip (no pun intended)

A dismal outing for the Clippers on Tuesday against the Rockets.

M'Baye went 0-for-6, 3-of-4 at the line, with three rebounds in 18 minutes. Cam Clark went 2-for-6 (4 points) with one rebound in 15 minutes.
