Colby Daniels tweeet (Kruger Retiring!)

So you don’t think he would return to his alma mater. I think we’re as good a job as Houston.

Absolutely not. They are building a great program down there. They have great support from the school. Probably a better recruiting base. A donor that backs their program.

He nor Kelvin would have any interest in returning to OU at this point.

I would hope we could do better than some assistants at Houston. There are several good head coaches at smaller programs that would make more sense than unproven assistants at Houston.

Kellen would take the OU job in a heart beat 0 chance he would be called to be interviewed

I love how the names thrown out are always just guys whose teams have recently won their conference tournament and thereby made the tournament. I wonder how many people would mention some of these guys had they lost in the conference tourney championship game and never gotten the exposure of March Madness. There are obviously coaches at smaller schools who end up successful at major programs, but there are many more who flop. I think we need to be aiming higher than someone who has had modest success at a low or mid major.

Seth Davis in the Athletic pumping Mark Turgeon, that would be a god awful hire and I think there was something that Turgeon did when OU hired Capel that pissed some people off but can’t quite remember it.

Think it all depends on if they go w/ a veteran coach or more of a young coach

If it’s a veteran I would think Belien and a Tad Boyle would get a call to see if they are interested

If it’s a young coach there are any # of ways they could go.

A possible wildcard would be a young assistant/former assistant with the Thunder that’s in the NBA

Has Mark Pope been mentioned? I think he would be an interesting choice and one that could do well here.

hell no.... too fresh in my mind

My join date is 10-31-2008... and I was one of the originals who came over... So I am confident saying this board started in October of 2008... And lots of us were talking on the James Hale board for a long time. I think I joined the Hale board in 2001 or 2002.

20 years of posting and my favorite storyline is from playmakr, who legitimately believed I was a "plant".... A fictional character created by the mods to stir up controversy, lol.

i joined a few days after you .

Turgeon would be a 180 degree turn from Lon. He is almost as thin skinned as Marshall. I hate KU but if I thought he was a good coach and person who would make us better, I would be fine with him. But man, I just can’t stand his personality and also think he would be a big step down as far as the quality of his coaching.

Interesting name. No idea if there is any connection or if it’s on the radar, but I think he is a very solid coach.

I really hope it’s not mark turgeon. That would make me vomit.

Joe C. isn't going to bring in anybody with a questionable attitude/personality.

At this point, I'd guess McCasland and Hartman are the leaders. It'll be somebody Joe C. can trust. He isn't going to take too big of a chance a) at this point in his career, and b) after the Capel debacle.

Kelvin Sampson is 65 years old. He's probably thinking about retirement too in the near future. We need someone young to come and work.

Name I heard also was tang. Baylor #2 asst. But just by one guy. If mcassland is #1 choice.

Not a chance. Just shows you know NOTHING about their situation down in Houston.

Dude why on earth would a nobody coach's son (thats a freakin dweeb too) NOT take a p5 head coaching job bc hes an assistant coach at Houston?? Lmao youre way off on this hypothetical that thankfully would never happen at OU

Its McCasland by a mile rn IMO

If McCasland's teams play at a slower pace, that's worrisome to me. Smaller programs often have to rely on a particular style to succeed, but at a larger program, such an approach could definitely hinder recruiting (and recruiting is what certain posters have long complained about regarding Coach Kruger).

jerome tang? baylor fans apparently love that guy. i'm in.
