Colby Daniels tweeet (Kruger Retiring!)

Haha... A long time ago a lot of us were over on the OU-Insider board (known as the James Hale board).... When a band of rebels led by AdaSooner and a few others seceded and created their own board.

Then, one by one, many of the regulars (like me) from over there came to this forum.

Since then some have fallen off, stopped posting, been banned, or unfortunately are deceased. This was a LONG TIME AGO.

the James Hale board....now that's a name i have not heard in a long time...a lonnnnng time..

What year did it start? I started here in '09 and i'm pretty sure as obsessed with OU basketball as I am I would have found it before then.

Having to root for a team with Turgeon would make me sick to my stomach.

Yeah that would be tough. I don’t like him. He’s a good coach but he’s a jerk and he’ll always have eyes for ku. I don’t want him to be our coach.

My join date is 10-31-2008... and I was one of the originals who came over... So I am confident saying this board started in October of 2008... And lots of us were talking on the James Hale board for a long time. I think I joined the Hale board in 2001 or 2002.

20 years of posting and my favorite storyline is from playmakr, who legitimately believed I was a "plant".... A fictional character created by the mods to stir up controversy, lol.

what ever happened to playmakr?

I don't really know... For some reason I think he had some kind of feud with the mods or posters and left, but that could be 100% inaccurate. Not sure why I think that, but it was what came to mind.

Some people have been driven away by certain factions on the forum...

I know of one...from DB that still has an acct, post and responds but his posts/answers are sent into never never land...whether he deserves that or not no clue but it's crap that the powers at be don't just tell him he's banned if that's what they want.

I might be soon as well...lol.

Lon deserves many thanks. My hope is Joe C works thru his process in 7 or 8 days.

I think that any time your head coach is over 65 you should at least have a list of potential candidates that you add to and delete from every year. I doubt that he thought he would be searching for a new coach for the men and a new coach for the women at the same time, though!

agreed, I'm also hoping that kruger had told Joe C that his time was near...maybe not this soon (as others have said I'm sure Kevin getting the head gig at unlv moved it sooner) but kruger just bought a 3 mil dollar "retirement home" in Vegas...so I'm sure it was the yr after if not next.

I'll add, as far as the women's coach...he SHOULD have been actively looking as SC has seemed to mail it in the last 4-5 yrs. Paying her 2.3 or whatever it was, there are top coaches making way less...shouldn't be too hard if he wants to keep that amount.

Bring Back Kelvin!!! Can't believe its page 5 and no one has said this yet

If we brought Kelvin back maybe The Anti-Kelvin would come back as well. Ahhhh the good old days on b-ball message boards.....

Kelvin isn't going anywhere because right now Houston has better facilities.

joe will be in no rush to find a replacement.

seeing the altman suggestions, and oregon fans believe their program is far superior to ou. lol.

In with Pastner. Page 6!

I wondered if/when someone would mention Pastner. He's young and had some shine early on. Heck, I think some people in the media even suggested him as an option before we hired Lon, but don't think he was ever contacted.

I think that shine has worn off over the last 10 years or so. His last few years at Memphis and his record at GT haven't exactly been stellar. (Other than this year's conference tourney.) The media seems to still have a thing for him though. Wasn't he accused and cleared of something a few years back?

Historically, no way. Currently...facilities, support, arena, financial investment...Oregon is better supported.

He's on the dream hire list that isn't reasonable. Add a few guys like Buzz, Moser, Hoiberg, and Archie to that list.

Ulric Maligi is a name I'm intrigued by in the realistic category.

Buzz and Archie would be a dream hire? Try nightmare.

Heard an interview with Robbie Hummel that was recorded yesterday, before this happened. Was asked in general what he thought about Lon and the state of the program and whether he thought Lon has them in a good place. His answer was interesting; he said ask Purdue fans how much they like to trade places with OU and have a FF appearance within the past five years. I see lots of people on here complain that under Lon, we realistically will only make a real run every few years. In reality, for all but a few programs, that’s a hell of an accomplishment. And despite the revisionist history, that was also true when Kelvin was here.

Kelvin's lead assistant is his son, Kellen, who is also the HC in waiting at Houston. So he's going nowhere.

So you don’t think he would return to his alma mater. I think we’re as good a job as Houston.

I'm a little surprised you have so much time to post now that you're the head coach at UNLV. Congrats on that, by the way.

Get his face out on TV interviews during the final four, along with recruiting current players. How long when Stoops retired?
