Don't speak on what you don't know about. Do you have any idea how Kelvin and his family have went about building that program? How Kelvin has leveraged his relationship from the Rockets with Tilman Fertitta, owner of Rockets, into putting huge money into the UH basketball program? How a HUGE deal was made a few years ago about Kelvin signing an extension to stay in Houston when other bigger names came calling? How the biggest condition of that extension being signed was that Kellen was named the HC in Waiting? How Kelvin's daughter works in the program, as does his wife?

You call Kellen a nobody (and a dweeb, which is weird, but whatever), but he's actually pretty highly thought of in coaching circles. He had some solid offers (mostly as an assistant) around the time UH named him HC in Waiting.

Kelvin and Kellen both still love OU. But both have VERY good gigs exactly where they are. Kelvin doesn't have many years left. I'd say probably 5 tops. Then Kellen will get to take over. It's a sweet deal. Houston and their fans appreciate the Sampson family, something that didn't always happen up here.

I’m hoping his name being mentioned is coming from turgeon himself and his agent. He’s probably looking to leave Maryland because they expect more of him and he’s plateaued there. He’s looking to move on before they kick him to the curb. Maryland has donors and fans that expect more than what he’s delivering.

That’s just my opinion. I don’t want turgeon anywhere near the OU program.

I feel that K J Kindler is one of Joe C's greatest hires. Someone who made lesser talent perform better and had the personality and drive to recruit at a higher level. Her Iowa State girls gave us fits before we hired K J. I watched wondering if they ever were going to make a mistake.

I would love to get that quality of hire in both basketball teams.

I am less confident that we will get someone on the men's side that will move us into top levels. My personal belief is that the NCAA makes their money in football and men's basketball and will always look the other way when the blue bloods do the shady stuff. Kansas is investigated ad nausium but never punished. Calipari has left programs in trouble but gets to Kentucy unscathed.

I guess I'm ok with McCasland. It doesn't really excite me, but I understand where we are in the pecking order of college basketball programs. And he would probably end up being a solid choice. I realize our administration would never go near Pitino, but he would be worth a phone call to me. I am aware of his past transgressions, but he is someone who might seriously consider us if given an opportunity. And maybe he has been humbled. Obviously my favorites (Wright, Underwood, Bennett)....we would have ZERO chance.

And put me on the list of wanting NO part of Turgeon.

Then, one by one, many of the regulars (like me) from over there came to this forum.

Since then some have fallen off, stopped posting, been banned, or unfortunately are deceased. This was a LONG TIME AGO.
