Colby Daniels tweeet (Kruger Retiring!)

LOL. Maryland fans don’t want him to retire there. They’ve already turned on him. The comments are hilarious. Hopefully, this puts his candidacy to rest. Just say NO to that turd.

This tweet sounds like his agent already reached out about the job, Joe C. said no, and now they're just trying to get ahead of it by saying he was never interested.

That’s kinda what I’ve thought all along. He never made sense to those that understand OU basketball.

Exactly! WichitaSooner said it best. This board has never been more united on a topic: Say NO to Mark Turgeon!!!

I'm still laughing at some comments from Maryland fans BEGGING Joe C to hire Turgeon.

WF, you should share some of those posts with us. If Joe C even thought about hiring Turgeon, OU fans would run him out of town!

i don't like back to the past hires, he or she bleeds black and gold or crimson and cream...etc. kellen, quannas, eduardo.....love those guys but not my pick.

i am, however, a billion times against Mark Turgeon. no way.

Tweet from @JeffGoodman a few minutes ago:

Loyola Chicago’s Porter Moser and North Texas’ Grant McCasland are both among the candidates for the Oklahoma opening, sources told @Stadium.

Crazy thing is that OU athletic director Joe Castiglione is trying to hire both a men’s and women’s coach at the same time.

Would love Porter Moser, but I'm not convinced Goodman has strong OU connections.

Not sure if he has any eligibility left, but if he could bring Krutwig with him that would be just great.

Sports Illustrated writer Kevin Sweeney(@CBB_Central) quote tweeted Goodman's tweet with this:

"The Porter Moser buzz at Oklahoma has been persistent since the start of this search."

I'm not much of a fan of Moser. Seems like a guy that has a couple of good runs at a small school, gets a bigger job, and you never talk about him again until he is fired.

- He isn't exactly young at 53 (when the season starts). Not OLD, but not young.
- Most of his time has been spent well north of here. Born in Illinois. Played at Creighton. Coached at Illinois State and Loyola for about 15 of the last 20 years.
- Tends to coach very good defenses, but offenses are not great, and tend to be slow and boring.
- Personality.....nice guy, but very bland.

I'd be the end results look a lot like we've had under Lon. I think he is getting WAY too much credit for these last couple of years at Loyola. Seems like he'd be a better fit up North.

Coaches who stick to a very specific, arguably limited style work best at small programs, in my opinion. I think such an approach can limit one's recruiting options. Will a hot-shot 4- or 5-star player who wants to show off his offensive skills want to come play for such a coach in such a system?

If coaches succeed then players generally want to play for such individuals.

I keep hearing this logic, but I don't understand it. If we find a young coach good enough to stay here 30 years, he won't -- he'll head off to a blue blood school at some point. 10-15 years is the most we can realistically hope for, and 53 does not get in the way of that.

Unless you're saying you want to grab one of the five guys in the world that view OU as their dream job (i.e. Najera).

Fran Frashcilla joined the OK Breakdown podcast (Gabe Ikard and Teddy Lehman) to discuss the OU opening. Interesting enough Joe C. has reached out to Fran to get his opinion on certain candidates. Fran wouldn't name any names, but does give an idea on the type of coach Joe C is looking for.

The conversation starts at the 34 minute mark.

I disagree a bit with your premise. How many successful HC's have the blue-bloods pulled directly from a school like OU in the last few decades? That typically isn't how they find/hire their coaches.

Second, it's not just about the age for the sake of age. I like the upside of OU finding a young, personable HC. I KNOW that doesn't guarantee anything related to on-court or recruiting success, but it's something I want for our program.
