Colby Daniels tweeet (Kruger Retiring!)

I'm good with assistants and smaller head coaches (that are younger) that have had success, but how would they translate to OU.

Altman - Similar to LK, which means age is an issue. Also easier to recruit to Oregon than OU.

Kellen - Not leaving his situation, so moot point.

Moser - Kills it when he makes it to the tournament, love his offense & defense, but only went twice in 17 years. Also not familiar with this area.

Enfield - Don't get caught up in a hot run. Has severely under performed with the talent he's had in the past at USC.

Assistant for Baylor - I like this idea because you have to be creative with recruiting, know the Texas area well, get the Portal players. Just can you do that cleanly away from the trash administration at Baylor.

Assistant for Gonzaga - Few is too good a coach to replicate (i.e. Capel/K). Also you'd have to steal his overseas scout/recruiter.

McCasland - Knows the area, knows JUCO, success where he's been. Style is boring & hard to recruit (has main players enter Portal often).

Konkol - Good style, knows the Texas/Louisiana area, young, very competitive in C-USA. However, never finished 1st in conference or made it to the tournament.

Turgeon - Please no

Hartman - Best OU recruiter, great man, young, will be a familiar transition to keep current players & committed recruits. Never been a head coach. Will he be himself or impersonate LK?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if OU pulled a name from somebody that hasn't even been mentioned.

Sounds like you just made the case for Konkol.

Tommy Lloyd would be the only Gonzaga assistant we'd want, but he's already been promised HC in waiting. He's been an assistant there for 20 years and is responsible for finding all of these international recruits.

Interesting...perhaps more than one Sweet 16 appearance every quarter century will convince some they are a basketball school. I guess if they can do it again this decade, some on here will put Arkansas in the blue blood category.
Naw no one mention them as blue blood, I really believe what I said is pretty fair and truthful again JOB not records and history lessons

Give me your top 3-4. You could be close

There's somebody still in the tourney that OU might be after? That's an interesting exercise...let me take a shot.

1. Musselman
2. Scott Drew Assistant
3. Houston/Ark assistant
4. Assistant of another team with TX ties

The only HC that I think would be even a remote possibility is Musselman, and even that seems a stretch. I don't want Oregon State's coach, and I don't think we can pry any others. Can't imagine one last ride with Sampson is on the agenda, but I would love it.

If our next coach is still coaching (and not Musselman), I'd have to think it's an assistant coach. Former Scott Drew assistants seem to keep popping up on our coaching search, but perhaps we want one of his current coaches? If we made a list of 50-100 realistic coaching candidates, I'd think Kellen and White would make it, but I don't think the UH assistants would crack Joe C's top 20 call-list. I'm not familiar enough with assistant coaching staffs to think of specific targets.

Joe C. should call Tom Crean. Georgia is never going to be as good as OU at hoops.

I'm a HARD no on Tom Crean. He badmouthed & blamed Kelvin his entire time in Bloomington. Screw that guy. He willingly walked into that situation and then couldn't overcome it so he whined about it.

We could do worse, but we could also do better. It makes sense for him to be on the list, but I can't see him near the top of the list.

That’s fair...we’ll agree to disagree. I think when u compare traditions from the two schools, it’s very, very close. OU has a decided edge this century, but Arkansas was a powerhouse in the 1990s, and very good prior to that. I just don’t think there is much of a difference between the two programs to suggest either is a decidedly better job. I do agree it wouldn’t make sense for Musselman to leave Arkansas for OU.

He is a Colorado guy... Pretty sure he is working his dream job right now.

Tad Boyle is a ku grad, who I believe played with and has coached under mark turgeon. His dream job is likely ku. Although, if we’re picking between him or turgeon, I’d gladly pick Boyle. Although Boyle is from Colorado originally.

I generally prefer coaches with HC experience but id be down for a wild card. Id like a little rolling of the dice on the heels of the safe pick with kruger IMO

I think I'd entertain any of Gonzaga's assistants, though not necessarily at the top of my list. Obviously would prefer a successful HC, but there aren't too many of those around.

Arkansas supports their basketball team better than OU, have better facilities and won a NCAAA title....not sure why even if equal Musselman would leave unless he hates it there they can match $.

Cronin would have to be a big raise w/ there recent run, guy is a good coach

USC had an Assistant involved in the Shoe scandal who plead guilty so I can’t see that

Moser would be surprised if he left that region of the country he might be waiting for the Creighton Job

Realistic would be:

Altman if he wants to leave and get back to Midwest or Beilein if your going veteran Coach

Mills, McCasland, Hartman (OU Asst.) or some other younger coach

I will throw out a wild card NBA name Adrian Griffin former Thunder Assistant coach, current Assistant coach for Toronto Raptors

Adrian griffin is an Interesting name. I don’t know a lot about him other than he’s an NBA assistant. It would be worth digging in to if it were a possibility.

How about Ben McCollum from Northwest Missouri State? Has won two consecutive DII titles and 3 of 5.

Someone there is developing big men - Timme reminds me of Sabonis and the Zags have had Olynyk, Zach Collins, Clarke, Hacimura......someone is doing some big-time development there.

It’s incredible. I want to know how they pick these dudes out. They are always skilled.

Just looked up the profiles of the ones you listed. Only Collins and sabonis were high profile recruits. The other guys often had 1 offer from Gonzaga only lmao.

Timme doesn't look like he should be any good. But he is good. They're doing something right.

Pretty sure Timme had offers from a lot of big dogs. Duke included, if I'm not mistaken.

Timme had 30 offers, including OU. I remember seeing his name among our “big time” recruits list that slowly faded out of the picture over time...all too typical of the bigs who actually had potential.

Our coaches had to settle on tall, skinny projects who would occupy space on our roster for two years before moving on to greener pastures [pun intended because they were definitely green].

To answer your question, Duke and Kansas did not offer Timme. I don’t know what that proves, maybe nothing.
